Found mine in a Quadra 800's CD-ROM tray that I bought from a booth at the Raleigh Flea Market Mall that was once property of SAS.

Found one at a local thrift store with the power supply and assembly manual for $10. Took me a while to figure out how to open it. EDIT: Would be nice to get a Mac Mini to go along with it. Hint, Hint. :)

Mine is the education version too. I'm not planning to use it for profit so I'm using it for education. :)

I stopped by the thrift store after work and surprisingly found some Mac software. Roxio Toast 5 Titanium boxed for $4.99. Adobe Photoshop 7.0 boxed for $14.99.

Could be. It's not in the greatest shape and appears to have had a rough life. Strangely enough the MacOS 9 install disc worked. I do have a USB PC Card and an external CD-RW drive I can try.

So far so good. Everything appears to work except the DVD-ROM drive does not like some CDs. I tried to put the original pressed disc for Power Pete in to install and an icon never appeared on the desktop for the disk. Any ideas? Does it need cleaning?

I don't have a Pismo, but for my Lombard I used CCC on my Sawtooth to clone its drive to a larger one.

Ali-based cards also work well in them. I have a USB2/FW400 combo card with USB headers on the card.

At the moment it's using a USB-PS/2 adapter connected to a KVM switch. I'll take a USB Apple keyboard with me to work to see if that fixes things.

A while back I found a 400mhz G4 Sawtooth for $5. After replacing the DVD-ROM drive with something I can actually use, it works except for one strange issue. Each time the G4 starts, it ejects the CD tray. It doesn't matter if there is a disk in it or not. So far I have tried an old DVD...

So far it has 512MB, 20GB IDE hard disk and Tiger. I tried booting from an OS 9 CD with no success. While I do have SCSI drives, they are either smaller than 10GB or are flaky.

Finally managed to get it apart and cleaned out. There are a few places left that I can't get to, but they are fairly minor. The ink came off quite easily using warm water. Too bad it doesn't work the same for my skin... :)
