Whether the 512Ke shipped as one or was upgraded doesn't matter. Not stating the original shipping condition is what identifies a early compact Mac. A Mac 128K that has been upgraded to a Mac Plus IS a Mac Plus. :)

The Apple IIe Enhanced (1985) contained new ROMS and a new processor. The Platinum revision (1987) doubled the RAM. All of these are considered an Apple IIe. Wasn't saying the entire Apple II line was the same, just referring to changes made in the IIe line.

I was thinking a similar timeframe. Perhaps, from a hardware level, everything pre-New World ROM. Apple also has system 6 and 7.5 available for free on their site still. Would like to see System 7.x as well as 7.6, 8.0, 8.5, and 9.0.

I got the JPEG from Apple's site, converted it to a GIF, and used GIFWatcher to view it on the Mac 512K.

Here's what I've found out about the 10 minute limit. EasyShare on the Mac 512K doesn't stop serving after 10 minutes, it just drops the connection. You can establish it again by mounting it from the chooser on the bridge machine. That got me thinking on how to get around it, so I wrote an...
