Very interesting. Definitely has a third party memory upgrade. You also mentioned it was using a 800K floppy drive, so that would mean the ROM has been upgraded as well. Not quite a Mac Plus, but not a Mac 512K anymore either. The Mac 128K and 512K are inherently defined by their memory...

Interesting. Are the serial ports (modem and printer) rectangular (DB-9) or round (DIN- 8) ? Is there a SCSI port?

Thanks. Was wondering about what tools I'd need to pop the ROM out. Don't think a Plus would work with the 64K ROM. Too many of it's new features depend on the 128K ROM, like SCSI.

I'm not worried about reusing the Mac Plus. Just curious as to how easy/difficult it is to do the ROM swap.

I had a Mac 128Ke (128K ROM) back in the 90's, and it worked fine with the HD20. I would say the minimum requirements to use the HD20 natively is simply the 128K ROM. If you have the 64K ROM, then you need to use the HD20 INIT, which requires 512K of RAM to load. Hope that clarifies things.

I had it running just fine on an LC running 6.0.8. It was released in 1990, long after System 6 was out. Do you see the extension load during boot up? If you do, is there a line through it?

I wouldn't say that article contridicts my statement. I would say it confirms it. 1.5K lost may not seem like much on a Mac 512K, but on a RAM strapped 128K, it could make the difference between an application working or not. :beige:
