@LaPorta these cells will not work in a PB1400 without some sort of adapter board... The PB1400 uses NiMH cells which are a different chemistry and voltage.
@LaPorta unfortunately the 14500 (AA size) cells are a hair thicker than the stock battery. 14mm vs 13.6mm. They will still fit in the slot, as the slot is about 15mm tall.

I recommend the ZuluSCSI Pico Slim... It's far sturdier than the crappy case they throw in with the db25 bluescsi2 clones...
it's also far more compact... less likely to get caught on something and snap in half.
