    Kanga lcd questiom

It's probably the Samsung LCD that you can also find on these sometimes. Model number should be LT121S4-105 or similar. No caps on that one. See: http://www.macdat.net/macintosh/powerbook/general/powerbooklcdindex.html I should add a note about that to the cap reference page. Edit: nevermind...

I always just get the smallest caps that I can when recapping LCDs in order to give myself the most room to work. I don't think it would even be possible for me to solder in caps at the original dimensions that they used.

    Is the Wiki dead?

At this point, I just can't trust that the Wiki will stay online even if it does someday come back up. Clearly it just isn't a priority, and I can't justify contributing my time to something that is so unreliable.

Macintosh portable keyboard keys not working

Is the Portable keyboard mechanical or membrane? If it’s mechanical, you might just have some bad traces, as was the case with my Apple extended keyboard.

    Powerbook 180c Display issues

It's likely going to either be remaining goo, or a bad connection caused by corrosion inside those ribbons. Do you see any black spots inside the ribbons? Don't ultrasonic the cables. Too high risk, I'd worry it would break the bonds on the zebra strips.

    Internal BlueSCSI and Wallstreet

Any PowerBook post-1994 uses IDE internally, not SCSI.

Least yellowed one of those I've seen in a while. Nice!

    The "820-0961-A" mystery G3 3.3V FlashRom

I haven't put a developer note archive up yet but that's a good idea. I'm in the midst of a big new project on the Laptop Portal at the moment (php + sql database backend), but after that's done I'll probably look to do that next.

    PowerBook 5300-gotchas?

You mean the capacitors? There’s only one on the 5300ce panel and it doesn’t typically cause any trouble. https://macdat.net/repair/cap_reference/apple/powerbook/5300ce_lcd.jpg

    PB180 restoration issues

First step is to try reseating everything. Make sure the LCD cable is seated well on both sides (and isn't damaged). If the interconnect cable is damaged, you won't be able to tell visually. Only way to know would be to swap in a spare board or replace the cable yourself. If it chimes then...

    Upcoming PB170 repairs

If you can find one without tunnel vision, sure :) Good luck with that though - they seem much more likely to have it than the 170 is unfortunately.

    Aircooled g5 quad done

I've got a laptop from 1995 with a (very) primitive copper heat pipe, and a few others from years after. Good ones started coming out around 2001/02 though.
