Every iigs I've looked at has had bad caps in the power supply. I would definetly check them. You might not see anything, but once you desolder one you'll smell it! Try one of the bigger filter caps by the power connector going to the motherboard.
Good point! I missed where Cheesestraws asked that. Sound has nothing to do with the analog board monitor section. All sound amplification comes from your main motherboard. No sound could mean a bad mobo is causing your issue, or it could also mean a bad power supply, which leads us back to...
Also make sure to check your deflection coil. Set your meter to resistance and verify you have a reading across your horizontal and vertical coils. Horizontal will read around 8.2 ohms, and your vertical coil will read around 0.4 ohms. If you don't care what your recap looks like
(and there...
Haven't seen any with washers, but with a little blue loctite these should work :

Another great place to look for hardware is Boltdepot.com, but they don't seen to have any m3.5 screws unfortunately.
Bah... just noticed he linked mcmaster-carr in the...
Phipli released a extension (based on ZigZagJoes's original driver) that allows you to change the clock speed of your lc475 via an application. As you can see in this thread people are trying to maximize their gains via hardware mods, but my lc475 runs quite happily at 42mhz stock (so far 😁)...
This is exactly what I'm seeing too. I can get my lc475 to boot up to 46 (didnt go any higher), but after 42 I don't see any significant gains. Actually, I noticed a little drop on some of the tests (speedometer). Running a full 33, 512 vram, and 128meg.
Hot air... Single edge razor blades make quick/ great heat shields, btw. If I'm being super careful I'll use kapton tape, a sheet of copper, or aluminum tape (depending on what surrounds the part I'm trying to take off).
Super good advice! Every caddy cdrom I've seen with the front panel has had bad cap leakage! If it has damage I would leave the ffc unplugged. At least until your sure you have the cdrom @ 100%
I second that! ZZJoe's upgrades are an awesome compliment to an already amazing machine. ZZJoe's (and Bolle's) upgrades make the SE/30 the 21'st century's must have Mac (personal opinion, but i believe many have the same opinion).
I love tube monitors, but that LCD looks amazing. It has me on...
Lol. I'm sure if someone banged their head against a wall a number of times when trying to fix an se/30, and then found out about the built-in diagnostics... it would be an amazing discovery. Saying that... I'm pretty sure that is click bait. Gotta get them views. Adrian is fun to watch. He...
I have a number of cards and a dongle that plugs into the adb port i'd like to get running. It will pass autorization, but is looking fornsomething else to boot. I also have a copy of the drive / software (Bluescsi image - used initiator) if someone needs a copy. I'll check my software / cards...
Sounds like it might be your anode cap or flyback are leaking. It could be your anode cap isn't secured/seated properly. That or your flyback might have a crack. Put it in a dark room and see if you see any arcing. You recapped it so i'm not going to give you the whole spiel about monitor...
Thats how i'd do it. It'd be easy to toggle a relay with a single push button. The easiest way, obviously, would to just install a toggle switch into the expansion cover (on the bracket) and run two wires to it. That wouldn't be any fun though.
That should be fairly easy to do with the power supply being seperate from the analog board. Just isolate the 110v going to the monitor circuit with a relay (so you could toggle it on/off). The trick would be doing it unobtrusively.
I'm not sure if they're requiring you to get 5 or not, but If so I'd be interested in one if your selling the extras. If not, if anyone has a spare iifx reloaded pcb they want to sell lmk.
