How useful is the Performer upgrade, really? Besides making Finder flicking faster.
You're practically limited to System 6 and below, and I don't think many programs that run on that System Software also require an 030.
Measure the current draw with an ammeter. A multimeter should do this too.

So, there is a way to temporarily disable the Performer (and similar 020/030 upgrades for 68000 Macs).
After the chime hold Interrupt on the Programmer's Switch, then quickly press Reset. After the second chime release Interrupt. The upgrade is disabled until the next boot.

How would you integrate the RAM expansion logic into the Performer? At a glance, the Mercury 030 GAL U3 seems slightly different than the Performer's GAL U3.
