Replacement Gear for Floppy Eject mechanism!

The gear fits all early Sony floppy models with auto-inject. But best to open up and look at the gears. If you have 4 gears in the eject mechanism (all different size) then this replacement gear will work to replace the smallest one. It is the one that usually crumbles.

Replacement Gear for Floppy Eject mechanism!

No problem. I can tell you that if it was a known standard size, I would much rather pay the $0.25 each from China myself. I bought several from AliExpress to no avail. If you do find a replacement that's a win for everyone. You'd think I'm making a killing with the gears, but in reality...

Replacement Gear for Floppy Eject mechanism!

That's kind of passive aggressive :) . I am not home but I can post after measuring tonite. I'm sure others who have bought already can post dimensions too. It's not like I'm keeping this secret. What I can't do, or won't do, just to be clear, is post the CAD for others to print. Because I...

Replacement Gear for Floppy Eject mechanism!

Hope this helps: I searched for gears for months and spent money on endless gears that did not work. In the end I had to develop my own. And learned a few things... Gears are finicky. The engagement from tooth to tooth needs to be perfect. The angle of the teeth are critical. Also the...

Replacement Gear for Floppy Eject mechanism!

I have made available to everyone a replacement gear for 400k/800k (internal or external) floppy drives.  this is to replace the tiny (smallest) gear of the eject mechanism which breaks over time.   I have tested and works great! Comes in a set of 4 identical gears, repair up to four drives...

I ended up replacing the capacitors with Polys. I still need to fix the floppy drive before I boot her up, I hope these capacitors are similar spec!

Bear I just checked my poly caps and they are labeled X2 and Y2 just the same as the paper caps. I think they should be just fine.

Crap that's a long read! I had ended up buying both types, using the X and Y ratings of the original paper caps. Looks like using the poly caps is risky since I'm now unsure of their ratings. Might just use the paper ones. Thanks for the heads up.
