Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
It's not hard to find on Google.
If you want some Mac-specific guidance, Operator Headgap has a page on jumpers that they advertise on their front page; http://drivejumper.com...
It's an event queue error, which I figured out just by triaging between Danny Goodman's "The Apple IIgs Toolbox Revealed", and the list of IIgs error codes:

http://apple2.org.za/gswv/a2zine/faqs/Csa2ERRLIST.html
Yes that's the same...
Some memory expansions are not DMA compatible. Or more accurately, the way DMA works on an Apple IIgs is funny, and when you're using modern cards to handle storage on the IIgs and they come with a DMA option, you frequently need hardware and software that accounts for it.
There's a couple of...
Yeah, there's a market where SCSI2SD is being used as either a floppy drive replacement or a zip drive replacement for samplers, and... I don't know where to begin to comment on this. Both of those uses are worlds apart from what you're probably planning on using a Compact Mac for with Apple's...
I'm pretty sure that you can e-mail Gus Mueller about buying a license for an older version of Acorn, he still hosts all the old versions on his site. It's a better app for G4e Macs, so I don't know if it's best for your B&W/Yikes. GraphicConverter is shareware that would be a better fit, I...
Anecdotally I remember Photoshop CS2 for Mac OS X being really painful to use on a 350 MHz G3 slot loading iMac. iPhoto ('07?) fared better. And Photoshop 5.5/7.0 for the classic Mac OS ran better on older hardware than all of those.
Photoshop gets noticeably slower with each major update...
(Oh no, this is an excuse for me to ramble about Altivec and it’s a bad one. Pardon me for this big huge tangent...)
There was a plugin that made for good Macworld demos in Photoshop 5.5, like the Radius PhotoBooster plugin that leveraged the same AT&T chips as the Quadra AV before it. It...
If the ZIFs and boards are cheap, there's some fun in doing minor upgrades on a budget.
Point taken though that I can't really think of much in the OS 9 generation that was accelerated for Altivec, the one significant element that the early G4s added over the G3. And Mac OS X can work on...
The Quadra 840av and 660av were allegedly the first Quadras that abandoned 24-bit memory addressing as an option. The Quadra 630 was the last new Quadra. Seems likely that it's not possible with that new of a Mac ROM.
Vectronics specifically names the Quadra 630 as not being compatible with the...
Looks like there's quite a number of very nice options for ZIFs on eBay now, if you can match part numbers to third party upgrades.
I'm pretty OK with the G3 ones at the moment. My G4 needs are well covered by a PowerBook.
Applefritter has some anecdotes about a Sawtooth in a B&W case, and other combinations thereof.
The case needs some modifications for it to work, but the PSU should be pin compatible. Early rev 1 B&Ws might not have a powerful enough PSU for a Sawtooth. That seems to be the basic gist
You can install OS X on a partition with OS 9.2 and boot between both OSes on the same partition. And that’s probably easiest since you won’t have to worry about partitioning.
To be safe, make sure you have the Power Mac G3 1.1 firmware update before you try installing OS X...
I tend to suggest FireWire 400 for OS 8.6/9.x since it comes close to USB 2 transfer speeds and you can find some HD enclosures that support it pretty easily. Here’s one...
As far as G3s go, yes that's stock. eBay has plenty of good pictures like this one of what the B&W ZIF daughter card with the CPU and cache chips looks like. While that auction's active and the link's useful.
The G4 ZIF upgrades have more things sticking out from under a heat sink on a...
ArmorAlley's recalling SCSI Manager 4.3, which was an extension that patched the Mac Toolbox ROM for earlyish 68040 Macs (a Mystic upgraded CC would count) and Power Macs. SCSI Manager 4.3 already shipped in the ROM for the AV 68040s (the Quadra 840av and 660av) and IIRC most Power Macs made...
You can pull the metal clip off of the heat sink if you want to check the ZIF socketed G3 chip, but I doubt you'll find much of interest there besides a dab of petrified thermal paste.
As Unknown_K says, it looks like a G3. :) Just a few cache chips to make things super fast without having to...
And (since the question of which System 7 version is best for a Color Classic came up last year) you can find the System Enabler you need for a Color Classic and any System 7.1. If you happen to have lost the Color Classic install media.
I believe the Enablers are also mirrored in a few places.
Getting this back on track (I think mraroid meant to post in the G3 topic!)...
System 7.1.1 Pro is 7.1.1 with AppleScript 1.0, QuickTime 1.5, and a workgroup networking solution called "PowerTalk". You can find later, better versions of the first two that work great with System 7.1; AppleScript...
