Cloning a PB G3 2.5" IDE Hard Drive with an SE/30?

Still awaiting moderation... Some people manage to make them work under OS 9. When I researched mine, it had a chipset that had worse documentation than cave paintings. Some super generic crapset with no drivers to be found. It's chipset is specifically listed as not-compatible with OS 9 in...

OWC Black Friday 2011 Discounts - IDE 2.5" SSDs & Batteries

Nope, posted as Theodore. Still awaiting moderation... My post is a good bit longer than Alex and includes positive reviews from my customers who I have recommended OWC SSDs to. As I wrote, no one has ever said to me later, "I wish I had gone with a platter HDD."

Cloning a PB G3 2.5" IDE Hard Drive with an SE/30?

    A. That is one PIMP'D Wallstreet! Nice Score! 8-) B. Are you aware of how to remove the HDD? C. It would likely be easiest to get a USB -> IDE adapter and use a USB machine with OS X and use Disk Utility to clone it.

OWC Black Friday 2011 Discounts - IDE 2.5" SSDs & Batteries

I posted a comment. And, it is true, I've yet to have anyone have me replace their HDD with an OWC SSD and be unhappy with it.

    Color Classic II woes...

If the second has been mangled, it was probably mangled for a reason. With that in mind, I wouldn't guarantee that its components are any better than those in your other one.

It seems you have it working now, but would Macsbug 5.4 be helpful?

Mac Classic II with vertical stripes

I put my SE/30's Mobo through the dishwasher w/ a non-oxy soap. It did the trick for cleaning, but you (I, also) will eventually need to replace the caps (likely) causing the problem.

    Power button problem with G4

Awesome to hear it works. I don't think the a boards would be too different. Only needs to power an LED and ground an ADB line.

    Power button problem with G4

The analog boards can go bad. Is the button actually clicking and making contact? If not, it needs cleaned or is broke. If it is, try replacing the analog board. (Analog board might not be the right name, but it is what I've always heard the little switch board refereed to as.)

PowerBook G3 Wallstreet PDQ RAM Compatibility

Well, I don't have the $120+, the knowledge to flash it, nor am I close enough to make a trip with my PDQ... :'( Anyone in MA want to lend a test run? EDIT- Is there anyway to make OF show the ROM version? Or, is it shown in system profiler? TRYING THIS NOW! IF IT IS THIS EASY AND WE MISSED...

PowerBook G3 Wallstreet PDQ RAM Compatibility

That was me Friday... Glad to see you know what I mean now. I wasn't sure if it was possible to make it clearer... or if my thinking was off. I put some feelers out to see if a R2 ROM will run a R1 pb. I'm pretty sure it will, but no source to back it. The only sources I've found are the ones...

PowerBook G3 Wallstreet PDQ RAM Compatibility

How do you know it is flashed with a R1 ROM? A R2 (to the best of my knowledge) will work fine in a R1. This is why you can use R2 cpu boards in a R1 mb, but not vice versa. Thus, the fact that it works in a R1 PB does not explicitly imply that it is a R1 ROM. It could be either R1 or R2.

PowerBook G3 Wallstreet PDQ RAM Compatibility

A R2 ROM will work in a R1 machine. It is the vice versa that is the problem. That is why you can put a R2 cpu board in a R1 WS, but not vice versa. It working in a R1 means: It works :) It works in a R1 :pb: It may work in a R2 :-/ So, at this point... Feeling lucky... punk...

PowerBook G3 Wallstreet PDQ RAM Compatibility

I don't see how this is a definite end. It works in an earlier model, so.... that means it could have a R1 OR R2 ROM. Is he the original owner that did the flashing? Did he do it in that powerbook? Or, was it just the test bed?
