How are the Cyber-Shots anyway? I've always wondered.. I've got an alpha, but its more of a Minolta product (as evidenced by the fact it takes CompactFlash).
I just bought myself the 2.4 GHz white MacBook today, and right now I'm setting it up. I was able to get $100 off the price too for being an ECU student as well.
Yeah, those Sonnet IDE/SATA cards rule. They actually emulate SCSI (via the ROM on them), which allows them to work as far back as 7.5 without any problems.
Good advice on the CUDA switch equill. My 9500 would have problems booting off its IDE card occasionally until you hit that button, particularly after swapping stuff around. Kind of funny thing: my IBM RS/6000 44P 170 often needs its Open Firmware reset when you change OSes from AIX to Linux...
Hit command-control-power after it chimes. This makes it skip the RAM test, which can take a few minutes on those machines with a large amount of RAM. You probably thought it was dead because of the RAM test's length.
266x? You must be joking. The Jackhammers only are 20 MB/s, and that assumes the machine can even handle that much data. Save your money and get a more reasonable card, something like an 80x. That's 12 MB/s there, still incredibly faster than the stock SCSI's 5 MB/s. But then again, if you're...

Put in the 500 G3 out of the 7600 today, the 9500 FLIES now. I put the 333 in the 8500. Have you ever seen 7.6.1 on a 333 G3? Its nuts. There's also 768 MB of RAM in the 9500 now. The 7600's Rage 128 is also in the 9500 now, which is great, as it just has VGA. The 8500 also has 4 MB of VRAM now...
I recently got an 8500 with one of these, and it seems to show up as 200 mhz under 7.6. I need to figure out what the DIP switches are then. Does anyone know?
