    New camera and computer speakers!

Holy crap. You have a freaking M8? (yes, I looked at the EXIF on that shot of the W300)

Anybody use a Linux machine as their main desktop machine?

It works with 9 very well. 10 is epic fail.

Q: what weighs only one pound so you can take it anywhere.

How are the Cyber-Shots anyway? I've always wondered.. I've got an alpha, but its more of a Minolta product (as evidenced by the fact it takes CompactFlash).

    MacBook

I just bought myself the 2.4 GHz white MacBook today, and right now I'm setting it up. I was able to get $100 off the price too for being an ECU student as well.

    Decked out PowerMac 9500

Wrong. Talk to defor sometime, he's got a 9500 running 7.6.1 with a Sonnet SATA card without any problems.

    Decked out PowerMac 9500

Yeah, those Sonnet IDE/SATA cards rule. They actually emulate SCSI (via the ROM on them), which allows them to work as far back as 7.5 without any problems.

Does a PowerMac 9500 need a PRAM Battery to boot?

Good advice on the CUDA switch equill. My 9500 would have problems booting off its IDE card occasionally until you hit that button, particularly after swapping stuff around. Kind of funny thing: my IBM RS/6000 44P 170 often needs its Open Firmware reset when you change OSes from AIX to Linux...

Does a PowerMac 9500 need a PRAM Battery to boot?

Hit command-control-power after it chimes. This makes it skip the RAM test, which can take a few minutes on those machines with a large amount of RAM. You probably thought it was dead because of the RAM test's length.

    Decked out PowerMac 9500

Mine's fairly nice as well: XLR8 carrier, 500 G3 ZIF 768 MB of RAM (interleaved FPM, 8x64 MB, 2x128 MB) Tempo ATA/133 (with 80 GB IDE HD, IDE CD-ROM) USB FireWire Dual Rage 128s (16 MB each)

    Quadra 650 nubus

266x? You must be joking. The Jackhammers only are 20 MB/s, and that assumes the machine can even handle that much data. Save your money and get a more reasonable card, something like an 80x. That's 12 MB/s there, still incredibly faster than the stock SCSI's 5 MB/s. But then again, if you're...

    Blackbox Project

Turn on macro mode. It'll look like a tulip (the button for it). It makes close ups WAY better.

    Here is something for ya...

Nothing too surprising. This was a disc given by Apple to service providers to restore any machine's OS. I've had copies of it before.

    8500 and 9500

Put in the 500 G3 out of the 7600 today, the 9500 FLIES now. I put the 333 in the 8500. Have you ever seen 7.6.1 on a 333 G3? Its nuts. There's also 768 MB of RAM in the 9500 now. The 7600's Rage 128 is also in the 9500 now, which is great, as it just has VGA. The 8500 also has 4 MB of VRAM now...

NewerTech MAXpowr Pro G3/266 DIP switches?

Got it. Mine oddly was set to the former configuration, but worked just fine. I changed it to the recommended though, which works great.

NewerTech MAXpowr Pro G3/266 DIP switches?

Its an ASP bug under 7.6. Gauge Pro shows it correctly as 266 MHz.

    8500 and 9500

8500's got a 266 NewerTech G3 (shows as 195 MHz in 7.6, not sure what's up), 256 MB of RAM, and a 2 GB drive. I put 7.6 on it, runs great.

NewerTech MAXpowr Pro G3/266 DIP switches?

I recently got an 8500 with one of these, and it seems to show up as 200 mhz under 7.6. I need to figure out what the DIP switches are then. Does anyone know?
