That's weird because unless I'm missing something Global Village Modems are labelled Global Village (here is mine for reference)
That hing has a mini DIN9 connector as well, right ? (It's difficult to see in photos)
One thing not well known from PowerBook 1xx, is that their modem slot is...
No worries
I do not have one at the moment because it now has server duties and is indeed booting Linux / 8.1 just fine.
However you are right, that may have clearance issues.
What I did back then is grab another personality card from eBay, remove the jack and put pin headers where the jack...
Thank you. Will try with 7.5. It's either a 8.1 issue or the board is checking for the PatchPanel presence and doesn't enable outputs when it's not there.
Mapped a few of the analog parts, will double check with a scope.
As for the YMF262 / YAC512 combo, U11B is the output buffer opamp for...
That does look really clean. What battery door file model did you use ? There is a few around but the tab always break for me
That does look really good. I think @joshc was looking at theses keycaps as well. You are also better than me at cutting things straight. The square ADB hole looks nice
@KennyPowers, @Mr. Ksoft, What MacOS version are you using ? I seem to have trouble having sound out of the codec. MacOS control panel reports a 0kHz ramping rate (Mac OS 8.1) Alert sounds make the menu bar blink as well
Small update as that machine needed maintenance this month.
First all the fans were replaced mid 2022 as most of the original ones seized. Ended up choosing Enermax T.B.s since I only trust theses and Noctuas long term. Also no RGB vomit.
465 days later, services stopped forking and one...
Is it possible to have the same pic but with a bigger resolution ? (Need R129 and R130 and everything right of them). Ideally I would like to be able to read resistor values. I could guess, but avoiding breaking stuff would be better.
Also, is it possible to get U5A and U6A PN ?
Traced the board and can confirm @NJRoadfan findings
The YMF bus lines are wired to the MVD101D AND a 74LS245 buffer (bottom right, AU12F) AND to the MVA508 (mixer chip) through R301-R308 100Ω resistors.
I see no continuity between the YMF and the NuBus part of the card (left). Maybe missed...
You will definitively kill the ESP longterm by using 5V in IO pins. It may works fine on a breadboard, but that's not ideal. So good job voltshifting that
Don't know about the 8266, but from experience ESP32s are (relatively) power hogs with bad transient loads. We are talking 500-600 mA power...
I would argue that if @Melkhior think it's difficult, then it's really difficult
From my limited tinkering / brainstorming with this, pixel multiple resolution doesn't require a reconfiguration of PLL and friends, but a different framebuffer memory reading algorithm.
Unless I'm missing...
What @volvo242gt said :)
Using a Radeon 9000 from a MDD on a QS for MacOS 9. Maybe a 8500.
For OS X, flashed 9800 Pro are kinda doable, or X series but they have become unobtanium. Or the Nvidia era equivalents like a 4MX ori you can find it a 6800
