Original Macintosh with Bag, 400K drive, KB/Mouse, manuals

Got the Mac last night, and there are positives and negatives about it. Firstly, the Mac's colour looked great in the pictures, but it is ever so slightly yellowed. Also, the bags they come in don't offer as much protection as I thought, and a small section of the front bexel came off from the...

i just had a delightful ebay win, a PLUS!

I've got one, and I prefer it as it has a bit of history. So what is your one? What's the serial number tell you?

i just had a delightful ebay win, a PLUS!

It doesn't look like a Plus to me, at least not originally. It looks like one of the upgraded models that started life as a 128K or 512K. Check the serial number under the machine. If it ends in P, it was a 128K, WP means it was a 512K, and A means I looked at the low light pictures and saw...

CONFIRMED: DOT 3 Brake Fluid can clean Lisa plastics

I can confirm that this works for extremely permanent marker, albeit slowly. I came across a HD20SC that someone had written '110V only' all over it, which is stupid because it is a 100V - 240V machine. It took many applications, leaving it to soak it, light rubbing with a toothbrush, but...

Original Macintosh with Bag, 400K drive, KB/Mouse, manuals

I arranged for a courier pickup this morning, so with a bit of luck, it's already on its way to me! I am not expecting it before the weekend, but some time early next week it should arrive. Can't wait!

Original Macintosh with Bag, 400K drive, KB/Mouse, manuals

Hi all, I'm a little excited as I've managed to score a fairly complete Original Macintosh (a 128K, but badged 'Macintosh'). I don't have the machine yet, I'm arranging the courier as we speak. I'll upload some pictures when I get the chance, although I am about to relocate for work and my...

    Thirteen Sonnet L2 Cache-slot Upgrades

Quite often with a TAM, you're lucky to get the computer and PSU/Sub. Sometimes the keyboard is missing, and the fat back is often not there either. I'm lucky that between the two I have, I have a quite complete unit and a basic unit.

    Thirteen Sonnet L2 Cache-slot Upgrades

If one of those fits a TAM, and you're interested in selling one, I'm interested! Nice work on the score.

    50+ G3 iMacs - Melbourne, Australia

Hey all, You may have seen these, but so far, there are two auctions for bulk lots of G3 iMacs in several colours (no Dalmations or Flower Powers that I can see). There are a few Melbournites on here, so maybe you can pool your resources and rescue a few old macs before someone buys them for...

    B&W Parts machine. Worth $5?

Would make a really good mailbox! I've seen it done before, looks great.

The fish that got away . . .

I won the bid on a Macintosh TV at $128 (located in Australia, which is pretty hard to find) but the Australian seller had a US account so there was a reserve price on it. I was so annoyed, as I was quite excited when I won and then realised the reserve. I tried to make an offer but he...

Macintosh TV in need of repair - need advice

Could be many things, but I sometimes find this era of macs won't start without a good PRAM battery. Worth a shot?

    BRAND NEW iMac! (G3-powered!)

They are a dime a dozen used, so I just don't see the point opening it. You know what it is, what it looks like, and how it works. It has sat unopened all this time, why start now? Just my 2 cents worth.

G4 iMac 17" 1.25GHz - Non working, but is now!

I've been looking for a G4 iMac for a long long time now, but they are usually pick up only and/or go for stupid prices. I've missed out on a few good ones over the past two years by not watching the end of an auction. Anyhoo, I saw a non working iMac with the 17" screen and the 1.25GHz...

Which to keep? Pismo or Lombard

Why not just keep both? They both have unique features and uses, and both are great machines. They take up minimal space, and unless you need the money, there doesn't seem to be any real reason to sell one. I would sit on it and see what you are using over the next 3 months. If you find...

    Unexpected Conquest

I would sell it and get a Mini. If you keep an eye out, you'll find one cheap enough. Why pay for a monitor built in if you already have one?

    Twiggy 128K prototype, again.

Surely there are pictures of these prototypes in archives of the corporations that used them to develop software? I honestly can't believe that these companies wouldn't have taken the machines apart and taken some photos of them due to the revolutionary aspect of them. Someone somewhere would...

    Twiggy 128K prototype, again.

More to the point, which resident hacker is going to recreate a twiggy mac for sh*ts and giggles? Could you use the guts of a 5.25 Drive, make a bracket to fit it onto the compact mac chassis, and change the faceplate to do this? If I had access to that faceplate, I would so create a template...

    Twiggy 128K prototype, again.

Now, if it had been a picture of Jobs with a Twiggy Drive Mac, then I would be impressed, but it shows a 3.5 drive. Big deal, I have a couple of 128K's of my own, as do countless other collectors.
