I must be honest. I never tried to do anything with Macs and printers. So it was not on my list for the MacIPpi projects. I’m also not sure if you can make something generic with PAP for all users.
My goal is always just to boot your Pi and that everything is working out of the box.
Nice to hear your trying my stuff.
I build MacIP VM and Rpi images to make it possible to use IP and LocalTalk. But you can use it in a network. Not sure what solution you are using. VM or Rpi?
Don’t know MachTen. But that is my problem. I will have a look.
I think I had the same problem. I resolved it a few years ago. Don’t know exactly how, but I have a large amount of files on my FloppyEmu SD card which work OK.
Maybe we could exchange files? So I test yours and you test mine. If you want that please send me a PM. If we find out what’s does...
I would love to see a modern replacement been made for a LocalTalk bridge. I think it is not so simple. A few years ago a working prototype is build on a BBB. I have tested it also and it is working fine. Read about it here...
@Realitystorm
Nice! I will have a closer look!
Did you test the MacIP.net Raspberry Pi solution? You can have this 24x7 in your network. Filesharing and alternative “FastPath” in one!
Thanks for mentioning the MacIP.net solutions. Have a look at https://www.macip.net
Newest is a Raspberry Pi solution. It is equipped with very form of filesharing. Windows, MacOSX, old school Mac, etc.
Bonus is that can access Internet over LocalTalk.
The VM solution is most simple but the...
I got the results of two beta testers:
One tester confirmed that the image is also working for the P4
This is the second test result. Nice to read all along.
- For beta rc 02 I will add macipgw to sudoers. Work around is to login as root. Expanding your SD card to the max with first boot...
The fun of running a MacIPpi is that you do have an "out of the box" MacIP gateway in your network. And feel how people end eighties / begin nineties could access the Internet with a machine line Plus or SE. No network card...only LocalTalk. Bonus nowadays is that you have instant file sharing...
New from MacIP.net the…. MacIPpi Rpi. The MacIPpi concept for Raspberry Pi. The first beta is finished, running MacIPpi 5.0.1
As always. MacIP.net gives you a MacIP gateway out of the box thanks to the linux port of macipgw done by Stefan Bethke.
You can find more information about this port...
