Help with SE/30 and Micron Xceed SE/306-48

Sorry but I cannot part with my adapter. Also I cannot assist any further because I never had that Micron card. You say it came from Japan. Perhaps it requires a different refresh rate or maybe it’s damaged. I have never seen all of those options in the Monitor Control Panel shown in your posted...

Apple CD300i Plus use with SE30?

Burning the cd on a modern Mac to use in a vintage Mac can be problematic if certain steps aren’t observed. First off is burn speed as mentioned but also the actual CD brand itself can also be an issue among other things. Audio CDs need and external receiver and speakers or amped computer...

Booting iMac G3 from firewire dvd-rw

Usually I will network something like this to my G4 Mac mini which holds my archive of Installers (as disk images). Then I will access the disk image via the network and do the install via AppleTalk. I've pretty much had it with CDs.

Booting iMac G3 from firewire dvd-rw

So what's wrong with the internal drives that you cannot use the burned CD to boot from internally? I know, on the g3 iMac, the internal optical drive is one of the first things to go. Especially around smoke.

Booting iMac G3 from firewire dvd-rw

Hi Jeff, Here are the specs with system requirements for the drive. It looks like you need 500 MHz G4 or better. Were you going to boot from a burned copy of 9.2 or is it original media install? One you find a drive to boot CDs with you'll hold in the C key at boot to boot from a CD/DVD but that...

Agreed but any attempt to run those few programs on an SE/30 would be dissatisfying IMO.

I can't think of much software you'll run into that requires Mac OS 7.6.1 or higher. Maybe Mac OS 7.5 or Higher.

Help getting MacOS 7.6 on SE/30

Yea I tried to do Mac OS 8.1 in mine but it was slow even with 128MBs memory. so IMO the best gain is yea it allows 32 bit mode which then allows you to increase the RAM to a descent level for Mac OS 7.1

Help getting MacOS 7.6 on SE/30

Your Mac SE/30 has only 16 MBs Memory. I think the point of installing a clean ROM inside a Mac SE/30 is to enable more memory, not necessarily to then advance the operating system to the highest version it will take with only 16 MBs. There are many extensions installed in Mac OS 7.6 thru 8.1...

How to Transfer Data From 2.5" SCSI Drives Without a PowerBook

You answered your own question but blatantly stated you refuse to do it. “and I have no intentions of buying another PowerBook - I'm done with Apple laptops)” There really aren’t that many options because adapters are hard to find. I have a PB 520c but I don’t want to open it. Too brittle.

    Power Macintosh 6500/250 - A/V mirroring?

I was going to suggest one of these things next if he could find a Firewire Card for the Power Mac. But I think the DVI to HDMI solution is better since it's the monitor output they want captured. Again, sorry for the confusion I though it was recorded video. I have one of these and I've been...

    Power Macintosh 6500/250 - A/V mirroring?

I would say yes it would have a certain degree of affect on frame rate but I’m unsure exactly how much. Since there’s a vga card installed and the 6500 has two pci slots you may be able to install a FireWire card. You’ll need the FireWire software.
