    Apple Lisa 2/5

Hi everyone, Thank you for all your responses and info. In the meantime, I have had the Lisa looked at by a specialist who has come to the conclusion that it is going to take a lot of work to repair as the motherboard is badly corroded. I don't think that there is any more that I can do with my...

    Apple Lisa 2/5

Thanks for the schematics.  Yes, some are reading between 40 and 80 ohms with one being 200! I just don't have the knowledge on how to patch up the traces so I'm going to have to look for someone with more knowledge than me to do that. As for the soft switch the COP421 is fine so Im sure it is...

    Apple Lisa 2/5

Just a quick update for you all. I have made some progress and can now deduce that the problem is the I/O board. I exchanged a working CPU board with the same ROMS from my second Lisa and it still didn't work. I have also done some continuity testing on the I/O board and cannot find any tracers...

    Apple Lisa 2/5

Hi all, Turns out my Multimeter doesn't have a continuity feature but it can act as an ohm meter (It is very old). I have inspected the tracers and there are a few dodgy ones but very few. Where should I start on the I/O board? Haha, no I knew what you meant when you said torch.  Regards, Max

    Apple Lisa 2/5

Hi fri0701, Thank you very much for your response. The gold contacts are very clean as they were cleaned very well by the previous owner, this is the same for the edge connector. I do have a multimeter so can test components. The corrosion does seem to have done some damage to some of the...

    Apple Lisa 2/5

Hi everyone, I've been working on repairing an Apple Lisa 2/5 with limited success so far. I'm not really sure where to start as the Lisa seems to be acting very strange, for example, if the back cover and front bezel are off, the Lisa will still switch on even though the safety switches are...

    Apple /// not booting

Hi all, I've only just looked at this post as when I posted it back in December nobody replied.  Anyway since then I have repaired the Apple /// and it was faulty RAM as diagnostics showed that nearly all the RAM on the board was dead. I bought a new set from VintageMicros and now it runs...

    400K diskette drive problems

Hi all, I recently got hold of an external 400K disk drive that isn't working properly. It had problems accepting and ejecting a disk which are now all sorted, however, it only reads disks it formats?? So if I take a good known working 400K disk it won't read it, but if I format it using the...

    Apple /// not booting

Hello everyone, I recently got hold of an Apple ///, however it doesn't want to boot any Apple /// software.  It will however boot nearly all my Apple ][ software using Apple ][ emulation.  Basically it freezes on the Apple /// SOS welcome screen, see image below. The disk drive also stops at...

    Apple Lisa disk images

Hi there, To be perfectly honest, I really don't know what isn't working properly. As I said I have managed to get the Lisa workshop running perfectly but they were all SIT files which were manipulated by the power macintosh not the mac mini. It seems that if files are manipulated by the mac...

    Apple Lisa disk images

Hello everyone, Unfortunately I still can't get any of the disk images to work. I have tried DART and Disk copy 4.2 with no luck. I am certain it is to do with the fact that the files are in the ZIP format. I cannot download Stuffit as it isn't compatible with OS X which is the highest OS the...

    Apple Lisa disk images

Great, thank you. Unfortunately I cannot get any of the images to work. I think it is due to the fact that I have to decompress the zip files and the Lisa doesn't like that. If I try and decompress the zip files on a power Mac then the disk image will mount using disk copy 4.2 but if I...

    Apple Lisa disk images

Yep you were right, I had another look and found the copies you mentioned. Although not sure if the MacWorks is version XL or the original so I'm going to have to test that one out. As for Mac mothership as I said I've already tried it and cannot get the images to work. As for the link from...

    Apple Lisa disk images

Thanks for the helpful link, much appreciated. I have now managed to find Lisa Guide but I couldn't find MacWorks or MacWorks plus and the Lisa Test. I will have another look though just to confirm this. Thanks again.

    Apple Lisa disk images

Sorry I should have been more precise: Is it for Mac or Windows? Where do I find it? If disk copy doesn't work I can't imagine this will. Please be mindful that I have never heard of this program so just saying "um...yeah" doesn't help me a great deal.

Is DART an application? Sorry I've never heard of it. Thanks,

    Apple Lisa disk images

Hello, I am just wondering if anyone has 400k disk images for MacWorks plus, the original MacWorks, Lisa Guide and Lisa test. I have tried the MacMorhership but I cannot get the images on there to work, unfortunately. (Must be doing something wrong) I have got the Lisa workshop to work so I...

    Apple Lisa video issue.

Hello, Thanks for the help everyone and I have solved the problem. It was indeed the horizontal phase potentiometer, the glue holding it in position came off and then it moved during shipping I guess. The reason I too thought it may be a capacitor is it would sometimes got backwards and...
