Getting Debian 6, 2.6.32-5 kernel to run on Quadra 605.

Found this 2003 list of all cards. (3rd post) http://sourceforge.net/news/?group_id=11666 Mostly because of gcc < 4 , the 2.6.37 kernel seems to be compiling quite well, so think the other sources will have similar improvements.

Getting Debian 6, 2.6.32-5 kernel to run on Quadra 605.

Getting Debian 6, 2.6.32-5 kernel to run on Quadra 605.

My experience has been, the later the year on the card and the more apple the better, early cards were buggy in their implementation of networking. The 605 has a apple 820-0443-e from 1993. This then goes into a aaui <-> 10bT transceiver. I'ld assume that if 7.6.1 doesn't need a special...

Getting Debian 6, 2.6.32-5 kernel to run on Quadra 605.

I recently got Linux (Debian 6.0 sid) running from the command line on a Quadra 605. A number of other people got the parts together, but I wrote up the method, and worked out the install using a ramdisk. I have a page for links to software and the complete writeup here...

    ECC EDO SIMMs in Macs?

I have 2 128T16E164-60KO simms working in sepparate Q605's. They are 128MB EDO 5v non-parity double banked simms. They appaer as 128MB. So both EDO and double banked work in a Q605. Weirdly if you place them in a Q650 they appear as 64mb? I assume you could get the Q650 to 256 this way, though...

Wanted: Advice on performing 68040 upgrade for Q605

Just lever the the cpu with a thin knife, SLOWLY. I would suggest no more than 1mm or 1/32" before moving on to next side and repeating, the pins are only 3mm / 1/8". Ok you cant remove it flat but incrementally on a small angle is just fine. The worst thing I've done with this method is hit...
