Got an SE30 going, however, it continually give a dialog box stating the disk is unrecognized and asks to reject or initialize. The icon shows an external disk drive in the warning box, but there is no external disk drive connected.
Is this a hardware or software problem? System 7.1 installed...
You are in a castle. Similar to a world builder game. I've had the game since maybe 1990. Never really played it until recently. I'm stuck and could use a hint, but can't find the author to pay the shareware fee.
Anyone familiar with this game. Can't find the original author or anything on the web about it.
It uses macintalk (?) and reads the text which is cool.... for the first half an hour.
Thanks Unity. Doesn't look like any damage.
Got a working disk drive to make sure it's not something to do with the logic board. The new drive works, so it's definitely the drive.
The drive did not write to the disk and would just eject the disk after formatting. The disks appeared to be...
Checked the disks in a different Mac and nothing was written on them. Found a working one on the bay and will make sure it's just the drive.
It will take a back shelf for now.
I cleaned it up but can't be sure it's reading or writing to it properly. I'll test the disks in another Mac to see if the disk were actually formatted.
I'll also check the Bourns filter.
Just connected the SE30 to an external drive and it booted just fine. When I put a disk in now, it doesn't eject it but can't read the disk (even if formatted). When it tried to intitialize the disk, it fails and ejects the disk. Tried it with two more disks with same results.
Guess what, turns out the floppies were flaky. For some reason the boot floppies made on the plus didn't like them. Tested them on my other 512k and got the same results. Reformatted on the 512k and the new one accepted it, however, only via the external drive, but at least the Mac does work...
Have a 512k that was giving error code indicating bad ram.
After changing the ram, get a nice bong and question mark. When floppy is inserted, the welcome to macintosh screen shows, but then the screen flickers and the floppy drive chugs like it can't finish reading.
It does the same thing...
