Audio Jack volume control on SE

Is there a separate volume control for the audio port on the back? My internal speaker is not working and so I thought I would see if it is the audio chip or the traces or just the speaker connector, which is really loose in my machine. So I plugged my headphones in and booted up the Mac...

Floppy emu dsk images to real floppys

Is there a guide somewhere on how to open all of these different game images? I'm talking about the images from macintoshgarden or myabandonware, etc. The 1.44mb img ones are easy, I just use WinImage. The ones that I am struggling with are the 800k and 400k .dsk files. If I open them in Windows...

New components will arrive in the mail Thursday. I just reinstalled the logic board following its second ammonia and water bath. After the first scrubbing, it still looked a bit dingy around where the battery had leaked. So this time, I heat d up the water a bit, soaked the board in it for 30...

I ordered the one from Mouser, and I ordered the capacitors from the too. Kemet brand, 0.1uf, 50V axial.

These battery holders look like they have a sprIng on the negative end. Would that make them too long for the spot on the board? Or do I mount it somewhere off the board and use a pair of wires to connect it back to the box?

So should I order 100 of the yellow axial 0.1uf 50v caps from eBay for $5.00? I'm bound to need more than one, right?

The are orange on the ends and brownish-grey in the middle. Would they be the same as the yellow ones in your picture? Mine looks exactly like the C10s in these pictures: http://www.ccadams.org/se/SE-800k-logic.jpg https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/65/Apple_Macintosh_SE_Main_PCB.jpg

I need to order the battery and holder but I also need to order the bad capacitor. Problem is, I cannot read the writing on it. It is labeled C10 on the logic board and it is right above the speaker connector. Before I removed the battery, the startup sound was working, but was a bit weak and...

Red vs Green HD indicator light on SE

My SE's HD light is yellow. Didn't know there were other colors. I like yellow. It feels more old school. In fact, imma call it amber. My SE's HD light is "amber".

I really meant that as a compliment. Because you know so much about what I am going through with this machine that you are just as helpful as if you were here with me in person. All of you do really. Anyways... I just finished giving the entire logic board a scrub in 20/80 ammonia and...

The drive that came with it is a Miniscribe and the one I got from the Craigslist guy is a Quantum 40mb. Lol. It's like you have been watching me. You really know what I am going through here. My Craigslist friend did say that the Quantum was tested and working. I like the idea of the scsi2sd...

Thanks. I did know about the jumper and I removed it when I put the four 1mg sticks in. I actually found that same article with google last night when I was preparing for the job. This is good advice. I have two drives, but I don't know if either are any good. I have the one that came with the...

I removed the battery. The metal contact on the left side of the battery in the picture just fell off as soon as I tried to move the battery at all. I cleaned the board with electronics safe and plastic safe contact cleaner. Should I use alcohol instead? Anyhow, every since I added the 4mb of...

I did find a bad cap - C10, just to the right of the battery holder. The lead on the battery end is completely gone. Anyone know what C10 does? And which cap I need to buy to replace it?
