No particular reason except its much more available, cheaper and with cheaper shipping from Japan than from anywhere else for me, I'm in Serbia. Came out to around €45 shipped for keyboard and about €20 shipped for mouse and mousepad. The motherboard came from there too, all using yahoo auctions...

Well I cleaned it up as best as I could without getting into de-soldering components in order to asses the damage and what to do next...
