Apple II Cross Compiler for 68k Macs?

The original poster did not indicate which high level language. For C and Pascal, the 6502 hardware stack limitation is an issue and limits recursion, but for Forth, say, there is no real problem since the data and return stacks are separate. (The same "trick" could be built into a 6502 C...

    CodeWarrior Pro 5, 6 & 7

You need MPW version 3.2 for System 6, and the version that shipped with Code Warrior was later. Also, when talking about Code Warrior you need to be careful about version numbers, since they started at 1, went up to about 10, then started at 1 again! :-)

    Shadowgate

Unfortunately, the standard version of Shadowgate is not System 7 compatible, but there was a hacked version floating around at some stage that supported some version of System 7.

1984 Macintosh Guided Tour "Urban Legend"?

They upgraded the Tour disk very quickly, so there are two versions of the 128K tour - one with System 0.85, and one with System 1 (0.97). Although the Tour ran full screen after boot etc, one of the options allowed you to use the true Finder, and that is why we can reconstruct the standalone...

    System 0.85

The System is a perfectly normal System, and it's version number is accessible just as for the later Systems - and reports as 0.85. The Finder is also on the disk, but named RealFinder and has only minor changes from a true standalone Finder (e.g. a "Quit" menu that can be fairly easily hacked...

    Mac startup sequence

I just tried starting up my 128K Mac with an 800K 6.0.8 system disk - and I may as well have put in a slice of toast. It found absolutely nothing of interest - no Happy Mac, just eject and the flashing X. Ken

    Mac startup sequence

Given that no Happy Mac appears in the absence of a System File, it must somehow be finding it or at least becoming aware of its presence. I'd suggest formatting an 800K disk, copying System 1 onto it (presumably only using the "first" 400K), and then seeing how far the boot up process gets...

    CopyIIMac?

I have two versions of it, but I've only ever run them on a Mac Plus. I would not be surprised to find they are not System 7 compatible, but a IIsi and System 6 will probably be fine.

Sad Mac code meaning LC II

It may have been possible once, but the current versions of Basilisk will not do the job. I'm quite surprised to hear 6.0.8 works on an LC II - it was never advertised as such. I put 6.0.8L on mine and never even thought of trying the normal version.

    Performa 200 and 6.0.8L

That's certainly weird. A Performa 200 and a Classic II don't even have differing gestaltID's, so I don't know how the installer can tell the difference...

    Thinking of getting a 1xx

Ah - I forgot the 150 was IDE as well. Also, keep in mind that not all PowerBooks support SCSI disk mode. Specifically, the 140 and 170 don't, and possibly some others.

    Thinking of getting a 1xx

One big advantage of the 190 over any other 68K powerbook is it uses an IDE hard drive. 2.5" SCSI is getting quite hard to come by these days...

    Error type 25?

Sounds much more like programmer humour than a virus to me. Try deleting any relevant prefs. What do you mean by "Shift doesn't work"? Are you saying that booting with shift held down doesn't disable extensions?

Original Lisa (w/ Twiggy!) on the 'Bay.

I expect it will easily surpass the price of a MacBook. A Lisa 1 is a whole different kettle of fish than the relatively common Lisa 2... Edit: the "corrosion" issue may have an impact though - a pity it was stored poorly

You need MPW 3.2 for System 6 development.

    Strange ADB problem

I am having a strange problem with an ADB keyboard hooked up to a IIgs. If I connect it up and turn on, everything works fine. But, if I then turn off the computer, and turn it back on - without doing or touching anything else, the keyboard doesn't work at all. However, the ADB mouse (that is...

    C++ programming

You're understanding re debuggers is incorrect. The CodeWarrior debugger is very similar to that in THINK C but better integrated. The MPW debugging environment (SADE) is much more powerful, but less integrated and harder to use. I suggest simply forgetting about gcc and gdb on 68K macs.

CodeWarrior is fine on 68K - both as target and as host.
