Oh on closer inspection of the capacitors on the back, I do notice some corrosion around the terminals of the smaller ones. I'll have to figure out how to get them out, clean the board and install new ones. I did clean off the gunk though on the front ones. Hopefully it won't damage things :)

I think backlight is going on my 170 or maybe one of the various boards associated with the display. The LCD works perfectly, but the backlight is now a dim amber. Maybe I could do a LED backlight instead!

Unfortunately not, the 190 is like the 2300c (or 5300c with 512k video ram) where it switches the resolution when the color change occurs. But perhaps there might be some third party software that switched the resolution, like screen squeeze? I'll look into that...

The whole screen went solid gray, the black and white checkered pattern. The machine still responded to mouse and keyboard input, but would not display any output until I changed it back to 256 colors (or less).

I purchased the screen form a 5300ce to swap onto my 5300c (it has 1mb vram, so it can run the 800x600 at thousands of colors). I swapped the 640x480 active matrix screen onto the 190cs and it worked great. With 512k vram, I can display 256 colors at 640x480 and thousands at 640x400. I thought...

Is the flickering still a problem? I find on my portable, if the contrast is set to some value other than the min or maximum, the screen flickers. I thought it was the screen alternating between two contrast levels to create the desired level. Setting the max or min contrast makes the flickering...

I was taking apart my old Duo Dock 1 the other day when I remembered that the PCB board says "Gemini" where the AAUI connecter would go. Is this true on all duo dock 1's? I thought it was unusual that Apple would put the codename in a production unit.
