Hmm some quick Googling suggests that these cards can have their firmware updated, but my guess is a custom firmware and driver software combination would be necessary to allow for WPA2.
Are the Pismos running Mac OS X? Or does the Motorola cards have a driver for the classic Mac OS?
I brought a PowerBook 180 to work along with the radius PowerView and all the appropriate cables and was able to get three monitors to work together! The right monitor is driven by the PowerBooks onboard video display, at 832x624 resolution. The left monitor is driven by the SCSI PowerView at...
Hmm. I was never able to get the PowerView to work with a PPC computer, the Control Pannel complained there was not enough ram. Maybe I have an extension conflict. I'll check it out again. 4 monitors would be interesting!
I'd go without the internal LCD for the dock, I think I have 2 nubus...
I've been toying with the idea for the last couple of years of using the old case part of my collection to create moulds in which to create new case parts from.
My thought was to go beyond duplicating the parts and explore the possibilities of using metal frames when casting new parts to better...
Might it be an issue with the ribbion cable connecting the display? If you had a known working display (from another 190* or 5300*) you could swap it on, that might help you determine if it is bad video ram.
Any luck with replacing the screen capacitors?
Hi all,
At work I have a 3 monitor setup (MB Air screen + DVI display + USB Displaylink) and was wondering if there was a way to recreate that on a midrange PPC PowerBook (eg 2300/5300, 1400, 2400/3400).
I might be able to do it with 2 NuBus video cards in a Duo Dock II for the 2300. I have a...
Ah you bring up a good point. I thought that the software would only be relevant to users of the 190/2300/5300 and I hoped that the licence for the software would be tied to the machine. I'll keep it up for the rest of today and take it down :p
Happy holidays!

The zip contains a collection of disk images, all the restore software of the 190. It should also work on 2300c/5300 series. it includes Apple Remote access, PowerBook extras, PowerTalk, QuickDraw GX and...
I think I have saved somewhere the backup disk images for the 190/5300/2300. It is System 7.5.2. There should be a disk tools boot disk with it. I could see about posting that if it helps.
My understanding is that as long as the power adapter meets the voltage and minimum amperage, any higher amperage is fine for the computer. Using a power adapter with too high voltage will damage the electronics, but the electronics will only use as much amperage it needs.
Of course, in some...
Ah. Thanks for the tip! Maybe I'll grab my multi meter and measure the voltages across them and see if I can measure any degradation over time. Of course, a blown cap will make it easy to spot what needs fixing!
Hi all,
I had a little trouble booting my PowerBook 2400c tonight, though I did get it to boot normally. However, I detected a faint burning smell and now the area around the power plug has a strong chemical odor (hoped it was just the battery). Oddly enough the smell reminds me of some paints...
I seem to recall that the European keyboards had a much lighter gray color, more inline with the platinum color of the desktops and not the darker gray of the Duos
