    Leave Mac on continously

I leave my most frequently used computers (home PM G4, work PM G4, and iBook G4) on all the time. My iBook sleeps when I'm not using it, but I don't think I've actually shut it down in 2.5 years. My work G4 has been on almost continuously since January 2002. My home G4 I shut down if I'm going...

To clip or not to clip - MacII PRAM batteries

Currently, I have the same dilemma with my Mac II. After referring to Apple's Service Manual, I have decided to clip the batteries and install new battery holders. Since this is Apple's official recommendation it seems to be the most authentic thing to do.

my vision for 68k/ early ppc macs

HA! Next thing you know Macs will be running on Intel chips... Speaking of A/UX I should pull out the IIci I have it installed on and play with it a bit. Installed it years ago and never really messed with it. Seriously though, a modern *nix that is easy to setup and use on a 68k would be...

Networking a Powerbook Duo: serial -> OS X/unix -> internet

Yeah, you guys are probably right... It was a thought anyway. By the way, which serial adapter are you using? The twin adapter? PDA adapter? I'm not sure if it would make a difference or not (other than the cables you would need). I have the PDA serial adapter. I'll have to give this a try when...

Wow... I don't know any of you!

Like digital sands through the hourglass cursor, so are the Mac's of our lives... (yes, I know the Mac uses a wrist watch instead of an hourglass, but sand in your wrist watch would just plain suck...)

LOL, I picked up on the "admin thing"... my "active" comment was kind of tongue-in-cheek. :) Thanks, Vassili Zaitsev I had no idea who you were!

Networking a Powerbook Duo: serial -> OS X/unix -> internet

Pretty slick! Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you don't specify the IP addresses at the end of the pppd command wouldn't you, in theory, be able to use phonenet connectors and use this technique with multiple vintage macs simultaneously? If I understand this correctly...

Wow... I don't know any of you!

Just selected an avatar... The picture is of my Duo 2300 when I repaired the battery terminals about 5 years ago. First time I ever soldered on a motherboard.

Thanks, glad to be back! I definitely remember you! I figured some of the oldies had to still be around :) Thanks! LOL, I hardly consider myself a founder... about as much as a fly on the wall at the signing of the Declaration of Independence. :) Glad to see the site is still going strong...

Wow... I don't know any of you!

Well, it's been 4 years and 6 months since my last post... so, how's everyone doing? I have just rediscovered the 68kmla and decided to reclaim my user id. I was a member of the "Old Forum" with 80 posts between July 6th, 2002 and February 3rd 2003. I was around (though mostly lurking the...
