Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
Even though I am in the process of purging my house of most of the computer stuff I do not use, I'd love an Apple II system. I don't particularly care which, just something to remind me of the good old days when I first got into computers. LOGO was the first language I programmed in, followed by...
Well if the B&W is in the running, the go for it.
It is a superior machine to both the BeigeG3 and the iMac G3's of which we have been discussing to date.
Faster FSB, built in ATA/66, supports more RAM, easier to upgrade CPU, easiest case to work in and so on.
I have a B&W and I love it.
Yes. It shields the innards from RF both internal and external. I would posit that a shield-less icebook would get crappy wifi, have audio problems from the audio cable inducting nearby signals and possibly even RAM problems. The shielding also acts as a low flow heat sink because it is made out...
I too have a PB5300cs and I find it to be a wonderful computer. Mine is also passive matrix and while it certainly isn't the best display in the world, it isn't too bad either.
I use mine as a portable distraction free writing computer. Although the iBook and OS 9 might take over that role once...
If it were me I would go with the BeigeG3.
It''s more upgradeable, and certain models can run on an 83MHz system bus. Replacing a Rev A with a Rev B or C ROM can solve the slave drive issues and adding an ATA/66 controller will solve all IDE problems.
The graphics subsystem in the iMacs are...
Not looking good.
2 of the .DMG's claim to be iBook install CD and I have no way of differentiating them as the both contain the same number of files and indeed the exact same file/folder structure and even names.
The other discs appear to be iBook HD images, but the first one is...
I just got an IceBook the other day also.
The keyboards have been know to smell over time and is a problem with the membrane material they used. As it breaks down due to heat and time, it emits a rather foul (but harmless) odor.
Here's hoping your machine works. I am quickly growing to love...
Nice looking G4 you got there. I was always a fan of that design. I know it's not highly upgradeable like towers, but form and function definitely met each other on the day that design was approved.
Yesterday I picked up a Dual USB 600MHz IceBook.
When I got home from talking with a client today, the LCD the Workgroup Server sent me is here waiting.
So the IceBook:
It came with a CD-ROM Drive and a 20GB HD but max RAM and an Airport card.
So I had an old 500MHz Icebook with a Combo...
Let me re-phrase the question:
Where can I find the software -----> for free?
It's funny a few years ago, locating the software would be no big problem. But now, it's old and archived in some corner of the internet far away from the google bots.
Where the heck can I find the software for the ATI Radeon Mobility in my iBook 600?
I love ATI chips, but man their support leaves something to be desired.
Ideally if anyone can link me to an .ISO of an original restore CD for this machine that would be perfect. Under system profiler the...
Excellent find!
I too like the idea of powering an eco-friendly laptop with the rays of the sun.
The big question is, can you charge the PB and use it at the same time?
Either way, it's a ton of posts.
It makes me glad to see this little group still going after all these years and crashes, downtime and whatnot.
Yay 68kMLA! 8-) 8-)
