As far as assemblers go, I prefer S-C Assembler... there's versions for DOS and ProDOS and the docs are pretty decent.

I think the problem is that not many people are interested in programming for 68K Macs compared to just about any other retrocomputing platform. Look at how busy this board is and then look at how many topics involve active software projects... I'm pretty sure I could count them on one finger...

This something I've wondered about too... since it exists for every other platform known to man, I'd guess there just nobody with the requisite skills who's interested in doing a 68k Mac port.

I've found 64MB SIMMs at Memory Ten, but so far nothing bigger. Something tells me that 68MB in a 575 might actually be plenty ;-)

According to most docs the LC575 maximum RAM is 36MB, though I've found a few mentions of 68MB being possible... I wonder if anyone's done this (or more?) and how it turned out. Any stability issues?

...and before you do anything, make a copy of the config file... and make frequent back-ups when tinkering. MacHTTP is quite finnicky about it and it can be a female dog to track down whatever typo is causing problems.

Not too far... you're right about the keyboard switch, but the 80/40 switch is for text not graphics. Play with them all you want, they won't hurt anything.

I have no probs with spotlight on a 466, though dashboard definitely needs to be ditched. Tiger should be right snappy on that unit.
