It used to contain lots of info and mailing list archives for the Apple Network Server.

    imaging floppies under OS X

I don't have a Mac running Mac OS < 10 any more. I want to image my old floppies "just in case".

    68k Programming Guide

If there are any tips on targeting specific CPUs, e.g. how to make use of '040 features with or without leaving out '030 machines, that could be interesting as well. I'm more interested in Unix programming than Sys7 programming, but that's beside the point.

    found a couple neat backgrounds...

I know the font, and have one of the free clones. :) I just have no design talent whatsoever for trying to recreate the image.

    imaging floppies under OS X

Having not worked with floppies under OS X ever, I hope this is not too stupid a question... Is there an OS X tool to create disk images usable in, for example, System 7? I find myself wanting to archive my old floppies before they all completely fail.

Very nice, everybody! Keep them coming! I'd really like to find a larger rendition of the first one I posted. I like the font in the logo.

    Mangia?

I actually have (had?) a copy awhile ago that I'd posted for sale here. Maybe it is still around???

    found a couple neat backgrounds...

I stumbled across an old blog post with some nice backgrounds for us retro-Mac types. Unfortunately the full-size originals seem to have disappeared. Maybe someone here grabbed them?

    Important: Forum URI Change

I'm curious as to the reason for this? Maybe it's an April Fools joke.

    Not Mac, but definitely 68k...

Cool for you! If you get that Turbo running, it will be like having OS X 0.1. :D

    Why was A/UX developed?

I wonder if it had something to do with the "Big Mac" project. Seems I recall reading that running Mac OS on a more robust foundation was an idea that predated NeXT, Copeland, or OS X, and I thought I recalled reading this in relation to Big Mac. If only the initial Mac OS development had used...

    Why was A/UX developed?

Ahhhh! I was looking at it from a technical standpoint. I didn't even think of the legal morass that surrounded AT&T Unix back then.

    Why was A/UX developed?

Do you really think the flavor it was based on makes that much difference?

Icons for old machines in Specs pages

I did a handful recently, and uploaded them to the wiki. They look very nice at larger sizes. At 32px, I think I prefer the isometric view of the Icon Factory icons. YMMV. I'm cropping the PNGs just a hair so that when scaled down to icon-like sizes, you get as much detail as possible.

I've got the icons...how do I convert them to PNGs, saving the transparency levels?

    Forum Rules?

Hmmm, it came right up for me. But, I'm currently logged in on the wiki, and am an admin. Try logging in to the wiki, and try again. I'll go see what I can find out about page protection there... Update: Can't see anything set on that page that would prevent viewing. Editing is protected...

    Toronto

OK, it's been over a year, and since I have four font (and several non-font) projects in the works in my very, very, very limited spare time, this hasn't seen a ton of progress. But I wanted to post something so that anyone interested won't think it's totally dead. Up to 988 characters now...

    ][ screen font

I'm not sure which "look" I prefer. I mostly used Apple with monochrome monitors, so I recall the spacing. However, when using Apple2Forever, the large gaps detract some from the readability—but if used with a bit of blurring applied it does look pretty nifty.
