I can't get ImageWriter ii to work with Macintosh Classic

I am not sure if it is serial or not, I have never used it to print before, as I just got this computer functioning. The cable doesn't have an apple logo on it, but plugs into the printer port on the Mac, and the port on the printer. Thanks, Dylan

I can't get ImageWriter ii to work with Macintosh Classic

I am using the 8-pin serial connection. I can turn the green select light on an off, but I will turn it on and try printing again. Thanks, Dylan

I can't get ImageWriter ii to work with Macintosh Classic

Hello, this is my hopefully final major issue. I am trying to use an ImageWriter ii with the Macintosh. I think that they were used together at one point, because I pick both of them up from the same guy. But anyways, I cannot get it to print. I looked up the different settings for the DIP...

    Macintosh Classic RAM not working

Sounds good! I do have another possibly big question, that I should maybe start another discussion for. I am trying to use an ImageWriter ii with the Macintosh. I think that they were used together at one point, because I pick both of them up from the same guy. But anyways, I cannot get it to...

    Macintosh Classic RAM not working

Ok thanks for the info! I checked and the version of word I have is 4.0, so I will just find some older versions of the software I have. Thanks, Dylan

    Macintosh Classic RAM not working

Can you really do much with only 1mb of RAM? The only things I could open were simple games like Tetris. I wanted to use Word and programs like that with the computer, but no such luck. Thanks, Dylan

    Macintosh Classic RAM not working

Ok, that is what I was thinking, but I just wanted to see if maybe that was a common thing with these cards. Thanks for the help! Dylan

    Macintosh Classic RAM not working

Yeah, I did make that a little confusing. With the SIMMs not installed and jumper set to SIMM not installed, I get the white and black bars that I attached to my last reply. Thanks, Dylan

    Macintosh Classic RAM not working

The error message is 00000005 00100000 with the SIMMs installed and setting on SIMMs installed. If I remove the SIMMs, I get a white and black bar screen, as you can see in the photo. And as you can see in the second photo, I get this vertical rolling image when leave it set as SIMM installed...

    Macintosh Classic RAM not working

Hello, I recently got my Macintosh Classic up and running. It had some system issues, but that isn't what this is about. So one day, about a month ago (before I resolved the system issue with the help of people on this forum) I took the computer off of my shelf and it wouldn't boot. It gave me...

Macintosh Classic stuck on screensaver and won't boot into OS

Yeah I did remove the system folder, as I formatted the hard disk. I couldn’t do the actual install because there wasn’t enough ram.

Macintosh Classic stuck on screensaver and won't boot into OS

Now, I think I actually got the machine working! I copied the system folder from the 6.0.8 disk that I made. I don't know if this will work in the long term, but please let me know if it isn't do-able or if I did something majorly wrong. Now to copy the contents of 19 floppies back to the hard...

Macintosh Classic stuck on screensaver and won't boot into OS

When I had the machine apart I did try without the simms and set the jumper to simm not installed, and it didn't work like that either. Now the issue that I a having is not being able to use the system 6.0.8 installer due to a lack of ram.

Macintosh Classic stuck on screensaver and won't boot into OS

Well apparently System 7.1 won't work. a few weeks ago, I took the Mac off of my shelf and decided to boot it up. It wouldn't boot and it gave an error, so I removed the RAM expansion and it worked fine. I am a little confused in how the RAM went bad, as it booted fine (by fine I mean got stuck...

Macintosh Classic stuck on screensaver and won't boot into OS

I have now gotten the hard drive erased. I used the Apple HD SC Setup on the System 6 install disk I made. However I cannot get system 6 to install, as like I said before the only install options are for the Macintosh ii, Macintosh Plus, or Macintosh SE. I tried the Plus and SE installs and they...

Macintosh Classic stuck on screensaver and won't boot into OS

How would you go about erasing the hard disk? When I have it selected and go to Special > Erase Disk it tells me that I have selected the startup disk, and it cannot be erased.  Thanks, Dylan

Macintosh Classic stuck on screensaver and won't boot into OS

Yeah, that's what I was thinking that I was going to end up doing. Yesterday a spent a few hours and 19 floppy disks copying everything that I wanted from the hard disk. Today, I'll probably do like you guys said and reformat the disk. Thanks for the help!

Macintosh Classic stuck on screensaver and won't boot into OS

Ok, I had some major breakthroughs! And some bad things happen :( . I discovered that the system folder was hiding in the bottom of the HD folder, and moved the Pyro stuff out. But before that, I made a really dumb decision. I decided that I would try and install a system 6 boot disk over the...

Macintosh Classic stuck on screensaver and won't boot into OS

When boot into ROM I can't access anything in the system folder. I am assuming that is where pyro is, as it doesn't seem to be anywhere else that I looked.

Macintosh Classic stuck on screensaver and won't boot into OS

Yeah, I'll need to get around to the capacitors. When I re read that I realize I made it seem like the capacitors are good, although I knew that I had to change them ;) .
