Stupid question on my part. I just did a search on the Apple website and found the firmware update. It says the firmware 4.x.x is for the slot-loading iMacs. 1.2 is for the tray-loading iMacs... I downloaded both to be safe.
Is it possible to get these updates without taking the iMac online? We have only have two phone cables in the house, one for the phone and the other for my dad's computer to have dial up :-/ If all else fails, I can take the iMac to school and use their internet.
I found a take-apart guide with troubleshooting on it too :-/ It only took three days of searching to find it. Hopefully I can find what's wrong with it and fix it.
All I got with the iMac was the computer, keyboard, and mouse :-/ I got it from a recycler, so no disks. I'll poke around on the internet and try and find some downloads of the software I need. If I can't find the right stuff I'll let you know if I'll need that burned copy.
I've tried just about every combination available, the first being 640x480 at 60Hz :-/ I can hear it change the settings in the monitor, but nothing shows at all. I did some research on this and found that a lot of these monitors died about 6 months after they went out of warranty, but...
I tested a connection with the Classic on all of my Macs with a serial port on it.
580:
Classic Sadmacs with code 0000000F 00000002
Can access the Classic's hard drive while the Classic is set to Chooser then connected. Nothing can be written to the disk, but I did get to back up After Dark...
I got them both on and connected without crashing once. The only problem is that in the Chooser there's no File Servers. How do I create one on the 580? xx( I'm going crazy from this.
Alright I'll keep those both in mind :p As soon as I can find the proper cables and/or a compatible 3.5" floppy drive this IIgs should be fully operational.
I managed to get this 70lbs monster home :p
I got it for my sister to use with her laptop since the screen's going out (It's a PC since we can't afford a good Mac Book yet). The problem I'm having with the monitor is that it won't display anything. She booted her laptop with Ubuntu and it...
It's a tray-loading iMac.
I haven't experienced the glass sound myself. My sister claims it only happened once :-/ I've only seen it shut off twice myself. Once after starting it up it shut off right after it showed the happy mac. The second time was when she turned it on and it shut off in...
I tried it when I got home and was excited to see it connected to my TVs :) especially since people at school said it wouldn't work. I can't wait to rub it in their faces on Monday. Now to find a floppy drive for it or to see if there's a converter to use a usb floppy drive
I know the cables are good. I turned AppleTalk on via printer port through the 580. I'm gonna connect the two, turn them on, and see what happens
EDIT
Just connected the two and turned them on at the same time. The 580 stopped during the OS boot and the Classic's showing the ? over a floppy...
I found a cable and linked the two together when I got home, however the 580 and Classic don't seem to get along very fine. If I start up with the two linked together, the 580 stops loading after about 3/10 of the OS loads (right before it shows any icons at the bottom). The Classic will either...
I just took a closer look at the backside of my IIgs and found what looks like a white Female RCA connector :O If I used a double sided male RCA cable, could I connect the IIgs to one of my CRT TVs from the 90s?
This is a recent problem in my sister's iMac. She claims that it will shut down without warning at random times. I've done some research and most sites say it's the PAV board, but it would get progressively worse if it was the PAV board wouldn't it? I mean, some times this thing can run for...
