Jruschme is right on the money. Xorg issues are out of our (MintPPC's) hands. Debian has been doing a lot of messing around upstream with this as of late. In the past several weeks we've had several machines come online and go offline in this regard.
@Mr. Ksoft
Try MintPPC 9.3. A Pismo is JD's...
Lubuntu has just released a live cd for ppc. There is also MintPPC, a debian derivative with a custom PPC port of The Linux Mint DE.

I would guess that most of your sluggishness under 10.4 is from 384MB RAM more than anything else.
In my B&W I've had a G3 400 & a G4 450, soon to be a G3 500. The G4 shines with X or Altivec Applications. If you use neither of these, the G3 will be fine ...unless you want to do super floating point heavy sciencey stuff with it.
Oddly enough, I've yet to ever use a FireWire device. I'm thinking of getting a FW400 PC Card for my WS though.
btw- Are there any FW PC cards that the WS would boot from?

MDD: Single 1.8 GHz 7447a 167 Bus
QS '02: Dual 1.8 GHz 7448 133 Bus
Your (johnklos) results show that for data intensive things, the QS would beat out the MDD. This would be even furthered by the dual cpus...
I was referring to my Latitude C810. I like the same hardware across lines. The Inspiron expansion bays are half the price of the Latitude bays and are exactly the same (for the c810 at least), guess which I bought?
Me thinks Wallstreet = Latitude }:)
...seeing as I own one of each. (and they both take the same expansion bays; CD, Floppy, Zip 100)
Also, they both appear to be made of bricks and cement.

Classilla - Best All Around, especially for Javascript
iCab - Sometimes beats Classilla on Layout, I use it as my JS off, CSS on browser.
Opera 5 isn't bad either.
Found them, and referency stuff:
1.0.2 is the version that shipped on the original disks.
1.0.4 is available http://homepage.mac.com/alk/downloads/MV1.0.4Installer.sit.hqx
The 2.0 beta is available from, surprisingly enough, the wayback machine...
