Apple HD SC Setup, is Initialize = Zero?

But Drive Setup won't fit on my boot floppy. This mac has no optical and I have no external drive that will work with it.

    The $60 Intel iMac

I wish this place was local. I really need to trade in my PM 7300 for an 8600/9600. i have no room in my office for a "desktop" desktop computer, I need a tower.

Apple HD SC Setup, is Initialize = Zero?

Well then I guess I'll just "zero" the drive the old fashioned way: Reformat, install clean OS, copy over a system updater that JUST fits in the free space remaining on the drive. :D

Apple HD SC Setup, is Initialize = Zero?

I'm trying to erase these old PowerBook 500 drives I have. I want to zero them before I get rid of them, like I always do with modern drives. But these are a little trickier, the only way I can format them is by booting this old PowerBook off of a floppy. So I can't get Drive Setup available to...

    The $60 Intel iMac

Not a bad deal. Although I have an even newer iMac in great condition (2009) and I can't get any bites on it on craigslist. I guess people don't want old stuff any more.

    Ever Heard of cc:Mail?

Also I can't edit the original post, so can any moderators edit that first post of this thread and put a link directly to post #84 above? And if you do, can you then delete *this* post entirely.

    Ever Heard of cc:Mail?

The bbcode tag seems to be broken, which is a bummer because my previous posts relies on it pretty heavily.

    Ever Heard of cc:Mail?

Summary of full conversion process: You will need the original ancient machine running ccMail, a modern WIndows machine (or VM) and a modern Mac.  Step One: I suggest copying the drive of the machine with the mail data, so you can work off a copy in case things go wrong. And they will. Also...

    PowerBook 1400 Hard Drive Replacement

I've got an 8 Bay USB3 drive tower that is supposed to be able to handle 6 TB and I think even 8 TB hard drive. That would get you in the neighborhood. I just have it filled with whatever random hard drive sI bought for my last home server many years ago. Desktop drives sure do last compared to...

    Ever Heard of cc:Mail?

Ok I have managed to get the mail into an Apple Mail mbox without the winmail.dat stuff by importing through Thunderbird first. Don't worry, I'm taking notes and will post the whole thing when I'm done. Everything looks really good, there is just one last problem. There's lots of quotes and...

    Ever Heard of cc:Mail?

I changed from using gmail to using a quick mail server i set up on my server in the same room. Boy it uploads 2853 emails a lot faster now, but the result is the same. Everything looks totally normal and correct on outlook on Windows. But that same IMAP account on Apple Mail is a mess with...

    Ever Heard of cc:Mail?

Ok so here's where I am now: I'm able to get the mail out of ccMail and into outlook. But now I'm having outlook problems. Specifically: Every single email shows in plain text, but also has a winmail.dat attachment that contains an .rtf of the text of the email, plus any attachments that may...

    Ever Heard of cc:Mail?

This was so much easier the first time around. Outlook on windows and Outlook on Mac are both giving me big headaches as I try to do this conversion again the second time around, with the full data set.

    Ever Heard of cc:Mail?

Holy shit it's working!!! So you go through these very odd, very non-intuitive steps to create an archive, and move all the mail to the archive. Then you move that archive over to windows and run that exchange importer tool. That creates a .pst file in your documents folder. You move that...

    Ever Heard of cc:Mail?

OK things are getting interesting. I have figured out how to turn the folder of emails into an "archive".  AND that "Microsoft Importer for Lotus ccMail Archives" app is able to read these messages and properly import the right amount of messages!!! But here's the problem now. I have no idea...

    Ever Heard of cc:Mail?

I think I might be on to something. That is, I was on to something, until the computer froze. That's not too uncommon. But now it continues to freeze during the boot, no matter which of my many OS/Volumes I use. Hopefully it works itself out.

    Ever Heard of cc:Mail?

I'm open to suggestions on how I would do this. I've been all over this app at this point, and I haven't seen anything like this. It's not a very complicated app either.

    Ever Heard of cc:Mail?

Well the app was originally on the 550. I copied it to the PowerMac to make things easier and so I could work off a copy that I could revert to whenever I break stuff. Like when I tried to upgrade to OS 8 and it stopped auto-filling the password.  I'll have to look into this postscript printing...

    Ever Heard of cc:Mail?

rsolberg answers to your questions: PowerMac 7300 / 200MHz 256 or 288 MB of RAM (forget which) System 7.5.5 I can't upgrade the OS because doing so loses the remembered password and makes me have to type it again.  I have Acrobat 4.0.5 installed.  Yes this Mac is connected via ethernet...

    Ever Heard of cc:Mail?

I wouldn't know how to do this. When I open the files directly, it's all unreadable raw data.
