I REALLY want an eMate, but my options are limited. Advice?

And looking on EvilBay I see a couple units up there that require some repair, mostly having to do with the display. I'm a certified mechatronics technician, so repair doesn't scare me, but not knowing much about the eMate's build quality or source of replacement parts I cannot qualify how...

The Beige Knight Rises - PPC 7100/66

ARGH! Last night when I was installing a new SCSI cable I was taking the metal enclosure off the 7100 and SNAPPED the back bezel off! The screw column that secures it to the back panel just snapped right off the panel. I could probably fuse it back together somehow. looks like my plan for a...

I had a Palm V, Vx, IIIc, M, M515, and Treo 650, but they have been sold. I own a Newton MP120 now, I really really want an emate, but I only ever see them for > 60 bucks and at that price its hard to justify.

    Cube for $20!

Ah yes this I hadnt considered. Hey would warm soapy water be okay if I rinsed the soap residue after? How long do you let your boards dry after rinsing them? I've always figured as long as possible, but isn't there a chane of oxidizing things? Do you towel dry them?

    Cube for $20!

Sadly, I learned the hard way about coffee last night; tried to fix an old Apple Design Keyboard only to find that the coffee had completely etched the traces off the laminate. Bummer. If you are set on repairing instead of replacing (GOOD ON YOU!!) I shouldn't think it would harm it to drop...

    Cube for $20!

You released the mystic blue smoke. From my own experience, this is not a good sign. I am crossing my fingers it's a simple problem with a simple solution. :'(

    Quicktake 150

These are perfect! Thank you very much. I was of course kidding about distributing these, but if I ever feel the desire do I have your permission?

    Quicktake 150

I have a request! Can you take a picture of a nice twilight hour pink skyline and post it for me? I think it would make a resolution and period appropriate desktop picture for my PPC. Plus I want to post it on my twitter feed, instagram, facebook, myspace, trendy coffeeshop, etc. Damn there's...

    Let's talk Nubus DOS cards...

Was it possible to install more advanced system software with an orangemicro card? The intention here is to have my 7100/66 as a dedicated "apps/games of my childhood" unit that is set for LONG TERM service (by which I really just mean it will physically boot well into the next decade). So...

    Quicktake 150

Man oh man, that is awesome! This is bringing back so many memories of the first Olympus my dad brought home a little after the Quicktake came out. Those pictures are ridiculous when compared to what a common mobile phone can accomplish, but not without their own distinct charm. You ever...

Happily! I'm no stranger to forums, but its always hard to tell what the unofficial protocol is regarding threads. Since this one had become necrotic I thought maybe it had been done to death. I love this place!

Cube, Flat Screen Studio Display, and Speakers for $20!

I've decided I'm not a "collector". Meaning I really just want ONE really good Mac from before the fall that I can keep working for years to come as a reminder. I am working on expelling my superflous Macs and settling on one. I've been offered many interesting Macs by friends, but refused on...

Thanks Beachy. Big apology to everyone. It's clear this topic is pointless when I can google for it. Was just hoping for some dialogue on the subject, I will be sure not to make such obvious noob posts from here in!

Oh man, I had a VX in high school! That thing was awesome! I especially liked using it as a remote control to turn off TVs or for playing spacewar!

    Vintage Software Liscencing

I get why developers of software from defunct companies might not be comfortable with releasing their old software. If not purchasable, it is still by and large intellectual property. The solutions are simple once you finally arrive at them, but getting there is the part that is actually...

    Vintage Software Liscencing

I've been wondering about this too, and would like to know what you all think regarding the very precarious nature of old software in this community. I'm a new comer, to be sure, but even I can see that the use of vintage computers hangs by a very delicate string; the web of different sources...

The Beige Knight Rises - PPC 7100/66

Yeah I am really happy! It's funny I sit infront of a much more powerful computer all day, but all I can think about is when 5 o'clock rolls around and I can go home and play with my powermac again. I'm starting an Infini-D Project tonight to get some of my old 3d Models modernized...

The Beige Knight Rises - PPC 7100/66

I got my adapter! I plugged it in and was expecting to get an IP in the tcp/ip panel and when I didn't I freaked out and went to the IRC channel where the folks there steered me straight! Long story short, AAUI Adapter works great, but I am not so sure about my own critical thinking skills...
