Have you also tried the patched Apple HD SC Setup? I've used it on my Quadra with a non-Apple hard drive and it worked.

EDIT: Nevermind, just saw your post where you mentioned that you already...
I've maxed out the RAM on my Quadra 650 and I'm using the stock video and CPU that came with the system. I did replace the old 500 MB hard drive with a 9.1 IBM hard drive, but that required the use of a 50-to-68 pin adapter. Eventually that hard drive died and I replaced it with a 4 GB that...
Not the very best cosmetic mod IMO, but rather interesting choice of color I do believe. Something tells me that this was done without removing the case and somehow the spray paint might have gotten into the grills on the top back, which might explain why it doesn't work. Of course, it could...
Just liberated a nice Apple QuickTake 200 from the media center of one of the schools I work for. It was going to be surveyed out, but since it wasn't tagged for property control it would have ended up in the trash heap. I spoke with the media specialist and asked her if I could take it if it...
Yeah, the Apple WorldWide (iPhone) Developers Conference left something to be desired for me. Yay for the iPhone people, I guess. ::)
Did anyone notice that the "Me" in MobileMe looks VERY much like the "Me" in Windows Me? Not off to a good start with such an association if you ask me...
MySpace and other like it serve their purpose. It's when you start adding people to your friends list like rabbits in heat that it becomes a nuisance. I just have some family and friends on my personal page and that's about it. Maybe a few people that have shown some interest, but it's mainly...
The RetroMacCast guys have a site on Ning.com that's for the podcast and it has gotten quite popular with their listeners. I think it would be nice, but it might actually conflict with theirs....just my opinion.
I have to agree somewhat with what you mention. On my PCs, I use GNU/Linux exclusively because I really do love how it runs there. It also runs great on my iMac G5, but seeing as I already have a working Unix environment in Mac OS X, I'm quite content with Mac OS X on it only. Maybe once...
I can understand this statement with something like Slackware, but then again Slackware was never meant to be for the average computer user. But rarely is this an issue in Ubuntu, and quite possibly the new Fedora 9 that was recently released (haven't tested the latter yet). With Ubuntu 7.10...
@ II2II and ealex79,
Well, it's not for everyone but that doesn't negate it as a useful desktop alternative. Otherwise, we wouldn't have people using GNU/Linux (predominantly) or any of the BSDs with exclusively on their computers. The same could be said of either Windows or Mac OS years ago...
Yeah, I got a chuckle out of that question too. :)
I haven't tried OpenBSD but I have tried FreeBSD and I do like it a lot. I especially love the ports and packages system that it has. I have the ISOs for 7.0 but I just haven't found the time to install it on a PC just yet.
I did install...
I've been running GNU/Linux exclusively on my PCs for about 3-4 years now and I've been happy since. My Athlon XP PC has been running Slackware exclusively since version 10, and my work laptop has been running Ubuntu since 5.10. Hardy is running swimmingly on my new work laptop, a Dell...
Well, when I went with my father to the Apple Store to have his Power Mac G5 1.6 checked out, they assessed that it was the CPU. I had come to the conclusion myself that it was either the CPU, the lobo, or both way before our visit to the Apple Store. Of course, they would choose the most...
Sounds like what happened to my father's PMG5 1.6 GHz.
Check the following link and see if this might have something to do with it:
