Okay, it is possible that the speaker's connections have come loose and just need to be reseated. Another thing will be to double-check and see that the DC-In/Sound board is attached and installed properly; it's the circuit board with the connection that the battery charger plugs into. If that...
By not normal sound, how do you mean? Is it distorted, garbled, sounds like someone circuit-bended a Speak 'n' Spell...? Can you post a sample recording?

The only thing that comes to mind that uses a DIN-8 connector would be either a video connection, like on the Commodore 64 (where the monitor plugs into) or it could be for an amateur radio HF rig, since most of them use an 8-pin DIN-like plug. That's what comes to my mind. I don't even recall...
A couple of things I forgot to mention regarding logic boards. If you have a Rev. A through Rev. D G3 iMac logic board, theoretically you can mix and match the boards. For example, a Rev. D board could be installed in a Rev. A model, boosting the speed by 50 to 100 Mhz. Somebody correct me if...
A "checkerboard" pattern usually indicates bad RAM or the contacts between the sticks of RAM and their sockets are corroded. Try removing the RAM and cleaning the contacts on the sticks with a pencil eraser and a light application of denatured alcohol. Take a small pencil-thin wire brush and...
Not necessarily. The logic boards for the G3 iMacs are different. The original 1998 model has a different shaped and pinout logic board compared to the 2000 or late 2001 models. The tray-loading models 1998 through late 1999 (which are Rev. A through Rev. D) not only had their CD-ROMs as a...
I ended up jerry-rigging the ROM SIMM in place with a couple small diameter toothpicks (preferably square than round) and a lot of Scotch tape. It works okay until the ROM SIMM decides to slightly shift position or the tape loses some of its adhesive ability, then you are back where you...
I'm wondering if the firewire card is bad. Can you also check to see if that card uses the "Oxford 911" chipset? I've heard that that particular chipset is more reliable for Macs than any other chipset. Lastly, check your cables, power supply and external firewire hard drive are in good...
Fyi, I had one major issue on my Power Mac 7500 (a small step down from your 7600). For some strange reason, the PCI port on the far left (farthest away from the CPU card slot) had to be soldered recently. Apparently, the slot wasn't soldered on solidly and it caused the Mac to not recognize...
1.) Check the P-RAM battery. Voltage must be at 3.67V up to 3.8V at maximum. If not, replace the battery and don't forget to press the PMU reset button once for about a second.
2.) One thing to keep in mind is that all models of iMac G3s across the board will suffer (or have suffered) the...
Y1 is a crystal. I think (Someone re-check me on this value, please!) the value is rated at about 31.768 Khz. It may be similar to ones used on Mac SE, SE/30, IIx and other model Macs from that era. I'm not sure what value D1 is, since I don't have any Classic I logic boards for reference...
It's possible that the SMU (System Management Unit) has gotten corrupted.

I hope that helps. Let us know what you find.

PS: I found this as well. I hope that helps, too.
I can think of only 1 way. You'll need to trash the preferences file for your Internet Configuration and Internet Connection. You'll find them in Macintosh HD > Users > Home > Library > Preferences. The files you want are labeled "com.apple.internetconfig.plist"...
Also keep in mind that the 802.11b standard may not fully support the latest encryption standards, such as WPA or WPA2. You might have to rely on WEP or WPA first standard revision for encryption.

Check and make sure the proper system extensions have been installed in the System Folder. Mac OS 9.x.x has a generic installer extension that will cover most firewire cards and devices. Also, if the card is brand new and supports OS 9, some cards will have the drivers copied to an install CD...
You're welcome. 8-) Now, as a real challenge, get that SE/30 online by following Mk.558's article in this section of the site.

The only way I can think of is to use the 7.5 Network Install Disk (floppy) and make sure it has all the resources to file-share via AppleTalk over Ethernet. Just boot off the floppy, connect via AppleTalk to your Indigo iMac (make sure that one is temporarily set up for AppleTalk via Ethernet...
Marvelous! Now that you've got that fixed, are you planning on modding it to the extreme or keep it simple? What's it's current specs, please?
