I'm pretty sure that once a PRAM battery dies, it's gone.
My WS also has a bad PRAM battery, or something. It takes a while (~2 minutes) to boot to a screen from hitting the power button. And the time isn't saved either. Even though I charge it up.
Do you have the Battery Reset App? It basically safely discharges the battery from inside the computer. That's how I got my WS Battery working.
EDIT: If it refuses to charge even with battery resets, the cells may be bad.
Not sure about the hard drive limit, but I would stay with a 400MB hard drive just to be safe.
EDIT: Did you check and/or pop the PRAM battery as well?
My Opinion!! Don't take seriously!!
I like the iBook G3 Clamshell line for the reason that it's a great computer. Faster then my current PowerBook G3, at 300 MHz instead of 233.
And it looks great when next to my iMac G3, so...
Nice find! But my question is... How did the '040 get there? Logic Board swap?
(Also, I like the VIC-20/C64 in the background of the first pic! :p )
Correction: A Quadra 630CD. The regular 630 didn't have a HDD..
I would get a server... If they were cheap on the 'Bay.
My current laptop works fine after running 24 hours with the screen on, fan running, and other problems. So sooner or later, I will take the board out, put it in a fake case, and stick it in my closet as a "server". Better then spending...
I believe you can pry off the keys using a flat-head screwdriver, but I forget.
I am not responsible for any issues, problems, or damage caused to your keyboard. Sorry, but I'm a terrible person. But thanks! :p
Huh. Cory, what do you think is happening to the power supplies? Because this seems to be a relatively common problem with the machine.
Something weird is that the guy who gave me the machine in question said that it worked fine when he last tested it.
