Really? Yes, I was because all of the new flybacks I've seen don't have that on them... Also, the reason I thought that it was a culprit was because it looks like it flowed down towards the bottom of the Mac at some point. I'm not an expert so please excuse my ignorance. What i'm saying is that there was a piece of string in the printer running along the width of the printer underneath the carriage that that broke off, I think that has something to do with it. The carriage moves back and forth fine when i activate a self-test, there is text but it eventually...

Any ribbons I use in my ImageWriter II are not advancing, Think I found the problem.
