Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
Found out more, it seems to be a 34 pin card edge connector. Still haven't found anything it might connect to in the nubus world.
Maybe a chance there was some weird SCSI card in it with an adapter which it connected to, then went to a weird 34 pin high speed HDD of some sort (Like the connor...
I mean, I guess I could do it, but I have never aligned anything before if it came to that (usually doesnt). If you have no takers, let me know and I can try my best at it. I can do a cleaning + lube + new gear + test, and I have a parts drive if needed.
Simple fix, the eject gear most likely crumbled into dust. Take apart the drive, clean and grease first, then focus on the eject part. You will see the issue. When you put it back together from whatever you did, the eject gears don't do anything because a gear broke.
To clarify: you say you can share files in basilisk. Are you saying sharing works or am I reading it wrong? Or do you mean you can share from basilisk to the MacIP server?
To see if this is a MacIP problem or a networking issue, try something internet based on the Mac and see if anything works...
It's in the gray part of the cable though, BEFORE the strain relief. If I cut it and solder, 1., the cord will be a few inches shorter, and 2., there will be no strain relief, and will look kind of hacked/odd. Was hoping there was some sort of cable I could swap it out with.
Edit: looked at one...
Yup. Kind of expensive, but will get the job done. Use very little to repair visible cracks. That size will last a lifetime, but its all they have. I used it on my LaserWriter II to repair some cracks. I think Fizzbinn used it as well for some stuff, if you search for it, it should pop up...
You can go to 100% of the original strength by not using glue, but special plastic contact cement/solvent. There's a few posts on here about Weld On 2354 solvent. I have used it recently too. It will totally melt the plastic together. With enough, you could even make a plastic paste, if needed...
Not one, but two of my four rectangular ADB mice have bad cables. Seem to be a broken wire by the strain relief. Has anyone ever found a suitable replacement that doesn't look hacked?
You powered it on with two missing caps, no or dead battery, and wrong anon adapter and it still went to a question mark?
Woooow, you are lucky! It works, now you know, just don't attempt to turn it on again until it has new caps and has been thoroughly cleaned, with a new battery and correct...
This cable was found inside my IIx from Littleton Coin Company in NH. There are two nubus card slot holes open, so I would have assumed they would have had a video card and a card for whatever this cable is. Or maybe they just threw it in the case while decommissioning it. No nubus cards came...
I could, but one is in perfect shape and works, the one I wanted to get going has a rusty plate, worn out switches and key caps, but a better looking shell. I'd feel bad ruining one for the other.
I'm debating on throwing in an AEK ii pcb I have, but I think I'll save it to build a new AEK from...
Received the "new" keyboard today. Different PCB revision. Different circuit. Not even going to attempt switching anything out.
May end up either hacking in an AEK II PCB or I'll eventually convert it to USB and throw a new controller board in. Oh well. I do notice a huge difference in switch...
Somewhat stupid question... I am expecting the "new" keyboard today. When I swap ICs, is there any chance of damage occurring to it if it is not the issue, and another part is dead? As in, as soon as it gets plugged in, the "new" one dies? Or will it work or not? Never done this before, and...
I can sort of answer B. With my IIg, I know that if it failed a self test, in my case the fuser blew, it sent an error to the Mac that said temperature error. That was using the built in Ethernet, which is really just ethertalk. An NTX with serial should act about the same.
I really would reconsider whatever you are trying to do ... I would A., Find an SE/30 chassis, or B., Find a broken SE/30 and swap logic boards. Don't get into hacking stuff together, you will end up hurting value in the long run. I'd probably go with option B.
Someone on here will most likely...
Hope he didn't get the molds recycled or anything...
Just think, most everything to make a new Mac has been made. Got a new case, got a new speaker, new fan, new logic boards being made.. just need the analog board and power supply. That combined with the LCD adapter being worked on would...
Blown component on the AB would do this. Whatever you do, make sure you do NOT leave it on this screen for longer than a minute or two! The screen will get burned in.
