    What PDS card is this?

Funny, there's been an SE/30 with that card for sale in my area, but it's an hour away and he wants too much for it to be really tempting.  Always wondered what that card was though, and his photo was not as good as this one. Based on the icons next to the switch, I would have to guess video card.

Color Classic G4 Cube upgrade? Anyone?

Yeah, I'd have to go with a mini in a regular Classic, Plus, or SE case with an LCD.  Seems a real shame to wreck *two* of the rarer and more desirable vintage macs.

Performa LC 475 oddity? Pre-production? Demo?

How about a refurbished unit?  Maybe the refurb center had generic-ish top cases to use as replacements as needed, with the sticker stuck on to designate model.  Also, refurb machines sometimes received reworked early production logic boards.  The only problem with my hypothesis is that refurb...

    Color of a Mac 128k?

Apple started out with a sort of beige color, and later moved to what they called "platinum", which was lighter.  You can see the transition with the Plus, some of which are beige and later ones platinum.  The color on the cover looks pretty accurate.

    Alphasmart SDK

Yes, the AlphaSmart Dana used the Palm OS.  The AlphaSmart Neo2 seems to have had the capability of loading new programs, but I've never seen an SDK or further information anywhere.  Anything older than that, I don't know.  Seems like the 2000 and 3000 could have their OS flashed, maybe that...

Rewire mini-DIN-8 PhoneNet adapter to DB9?

Could probably be done, but DB9 phonenet adapters are available, if a bit uncommon.  Keep an eye on ebay for a while; one will turn up.

A fascinating printer: The Star SJ-144MC

I remember selling a similar printer back in the 90s; I don't recall whether it was a Star or some other brand. They were cheap, quick and quiet, and the print quality was good.  Color pictures showed some banding, but not too bad. Then the inkjets got better, lasers got cheaper, and these...

    Software for a Mac Plus

You can also run a cable (regular old printer cable will do) between the powerbook and the plus and share files back and forth, rather than writing to 800k disks all the time. Floppy emu is a nice way to go too.

Sawtooth and later power-on from keyboard?

My recollection from the time was that there were issues with powering usb with the computer off, or some such thing.  At least, that's what my Apple rep told me.

    Quadra 700 issue

I have run a Q700 with an LCD monitor and an adapter, so it's definitely possible to do.  Whether you have a good adapter or not would be the question...

Cant get SCSI2SD to boot Mac Plus

Doesn't the plus need a resister soldered into place somewhere to provide termination power? Edit: apparently a diode and a resistor, according to techknight https://68kmla.org/forums/index.php?/topic/17130-scsi-ports-not-working-on-3-mac-pluss-confused/&do=findComment&comment=169787

    Cleaning Teardrop Mice

The Mr. Clean Magic Eraser seems to clean about anything, even textured plastic items.  Haven't tried it on mice, but that's what I would reach for first.

    Some questions about Mac IIFX

The IIfx is a really cool machine, and I'd like to get one myself, but it can be a difficult old mac to own.  The ram is unique to the IIfx, it's unlike the ram for any other mac or pc and can be hard and expensive to get.  This may not be an issue if the one you are buying has lots of ram.  The...

    sstaylor finds

Just got back from the Salvation Army store with my latest: an Apple Quicktake 150.  No cables or manuals or anything, but it looks to be in pretty good shape.  Kind of a cool rare-ish find, and only $4.  They also had a Harmon Karden iSub, but no power adapter so no sale.  Also, I already have...

512k analog board shield held on with double-sided tape?

Seems like I occasionally saw that sort of thing back when I was repairing macs of that era. It's been a long time though, and I could be mistaken.

Want to get a Mac II. IIci? 700? Something else?

IIci or Quadra 700?  Why choose?  I had to get both!   ;) Actually, one nice thing with the Q700 is you won't have to get it re-capped; they were manufactured with the tantalum caps IIRC.

Woz IIgs w/ AE Vulcan 20mb HDD
