I got the cap on the end of the 512kE's CRT back on and it fired up like a champ, so I threw the 128k board in for testing.
I didn't get a blinking floppy, no, but instead a garbled chime, then shortly after a black garbled screen with a sad Mac and an error code of:
04E925
Any ideas? I'm...
I'm going to get Mac-crackin' after dinner today. Anything I should make sure of while in there? Any special tasks I should preform before pulling off the board? If any pins need to be straightened, should I just use a flat-head screwdriver? Or just push the board back on if the glass tube...
A few days ago I got the PowerBook Duo I bought off of eBay. Seller was another collector, and had just done a fresh install of System 7.5.5. It seems a bug in 7.5.5 reared its ugly head after changing the desktop and putting the computer to sleep, as when I woke it up, the Duo was frozen. I...
Yeah, probably some teeth on a gear in the mechanism broke off or have worn down. Hopefully the new drives will fix the problem.
Nice haul by the way! The Molar Mac was one of the best looking AIOs IMO.
Yeah I was just reading an article about this somewhere else on the internet. Pretty cool you were able to get it to boot!
Will you be making a demo video of the beta OS? That would be cool to see.
Thanks for the help guys!
Thankfully, I didn't hear the "*tink*PSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSssssssssssssssssssssssss", so I think the tube is fine. I just gotta be more careful and remember that my big hands don't fit into tight places. :p
I should have some free time on Sunday to take a look at...
I got the 128k board in today, and I went to test it in the 512k. Standard procedure:
Unscrew handle screws, Battery compartment screw, two screws above the ports. Unplugged the floppy drive. Then I went to unplug the main connector. It was stuck in the connector for whatever reason. So I...
I ordered a 128k board off of eBay and I want to make sure it works when I get it since it has been sitting in the service box for almost 30 years. I would leave the floppy drive unplugged. I just want to make sure it gets to the blinking floppy without a problem.
I got mcdermds Plus the other day, and its working like a champ! Already used Sys 6.0.8 install floppies I had in my collection to make a 6.0.8 boot floppy.
Also picked up a small haul off of eBay over the weekend:
12 blank 800k floppies. Used I believe, as they have labels on them. They...
My 605 runs fine without the keyboard or mouse, but requires I flip the switch on then back off then on again to boot (bad PRAM Battery).
Have you tried booting from a floppy with the HDD unplugged? See if it boots. Then I would try replacing the HDD (if you have a spare one) with a...
I know. I have opened my compacts without any other tools besides a long T15 screwdriver. I wanted to know if the tool I bought on eBay was the one they gave to AASPs as I'm not going to use it, but keep it as a collectable.
I usually take out the screws and put my fingers in between the...
Probably.
I do have to say mcdermd the inside is REALLY clean. Did you blow it out with a compressor? I couldn't find a signal spec of dust inside. It looks great!
Strange. I reseated the RAM and only had wait 15 seconds until I saw the floppy icon. I don't know what happened, but it just wouldn't work before. I thought I might have had to do a recap on the LoBo.
Thanks for everyones help!
Before I made the video I let it sit on the gray screen for 2 minutes to see what it would do. It sat at the same screen. I didn't let it sit for after I reseated the RAM, so that could have been it.
I'll try reseating the RAM again and let it sit to see what it does.
