    AppleDesign Speakers II & AppleCD 300e Plus - $20

Congrats on the nice setup there. :D The AppleDesign Speakers II are a favorite of mine. I got mine used at the good-will for $6 about 6 or so years ago. The left speaker (the one placed on the right of the Classic,) has a cord issue but other than that they work great. It'd be nice to have a...

Hotmail and Camino - Any way to make it better?

Heh, I've run TFF4 on my Lombard 333Mhz with 384MB of Ram. (Though I don't actually use it for browsing, just testing TFF. Haven't tried TFF5 beyond starting and quitting at the moment.) Your Pismo 400Mhz will run well enough, my Titanium G4 only has 1GB (its max,) which is only 256MB more...

    PowerBook G4 operating system

Well did a little more searching. And I can pretty much confirm that "For Mac Computers" refers to Intel Macs. Seeing how they dropped "PowerMac" to just (Intel) "Mac" about that time. So yeah You'll need to get new discs for your PowerBook G4.

    PowerBook G4 operating system

Hmm... Might be something with the disc? Is it a retail or a bundled cd? (One that was meant to be included with a iMac/PowerMac or iBook/PowerBook.) If it has 10.4.10 it's possible that it could be an Intel disc. Is this the item? If they are like this then they are definitely Intel discs...

    Nasty SE

Oohhh... Sorry I didn't notice it at first, and I'm not that knowledgeable about the actual components of the Mac motherboards. Which is partly why I didn't notice it. :p I have no idea what that part is but it must have been important. (I know you know that, I only said that to emphasize how...

    Nasty SE

Ouch, that IS nasty. You can use shamada's guide to figure out what the problem might be specifically. I used it to determine that my brother's SE/30 needs a new powerboard. The T2 flyback transformer is bad. So the motherboard's condition is unknown.

    Mega Iomega Conquest!

Nice, a zip drive would be very handy for my Classic II. (They're very hard to find in my area, even more so if you want cables.) At least I recently found an old SCSI CD drive at a thrift store, it even uses the CD caddy. Fortunately there was a caddy there as well. Haven't tried it yet...

Weird wireless problem...anyone solved this issue?

I also have a Orinoco card. (But it's gold.) I don't remember if I ever had any trouble with the Orinoco drivers... But I did the following for my PB3400c: http://www.alksoft.com/projects/unsupported_airport.html (Requires Mac OS 9.) I think I did it mainly so I could use the laptop as a...

Firefox 5 not on Tiger PowerPC :(

No problem, happy to help in any way I can. If something useful for the future of TFF came out of that 2 hours of googling, then it was time well spent. ;) Ah, so you found a useland posix_spawn. Guess I should have looked on OpenGroup more. (I was relying on Google. Probably didn't enter the...

Firefox 5 not on Tiger PowerPC :(

Seeing how posix_spawn() (or for 10.4 the lack thereof,) is one of the issues with compiling Firefox 4 & 5 (and future versions.) I thought I'd do a little googling and learn some more for myself. I learned (and am explaining it for the benefit of non-programmers like me,) that...

Best Linux for a Powerbook G3 Wallstreet

I recently discovered Frugalware. It started being based on Slackware, but now they use their own repository. Their 1.3 DVD iso doesn't boot properly, but hopefully 1.4 has fixed that. Or you could use Debian. :)

What color is the Classic II?

I don't have a picture of mine (probably a little yellowed anyway.) But yes, the Classic II is Platinum. http://www.kevinomura.com/macs/classicII/index.html

    2.5" SCSI SSD Project

I must say, your SSD project has been fun to watch. (Especially since you provide visual aid with pictures.) Wish I could help somehow. (Maybe buy one for my Classic II when you get to selling them. 8-) ) This is what I miss, the era of computers when they were for the tinkerers. An era...

    Macintosh II minimum OS?

Well, looking at apple-history.com and everymac.com... None of the sites are consistent. :p apple-history.com says minimum OS is System 3.0/Finder 5.1, and everymac.com says System 2.0. So... Sounds like System 4 should work fine.

Brand new copy of System 7.1.1 Pro!

I think you should leave it unopened until you actually want/need to use it on a Mac. That way you won't end up feeling guilty about opening a shrink-wrapped copy. ;)
