I have a Sandisk 16 GB Extreme Pro CF card in my Color Classic Mystic. I read some place that if you format a CF card and do not use all of it (say, format a 16 GB CF as three 4GBs partitions), the CF will last longer. It has something to do with buffering the read/write area. My Mystic is...
Just looked in Drive Setup. It said my partition was Mac OS Extended. I see other, non Mac format options other then standard.
Maybe I need to install OS X first, then install OS 9 after that?
If I install OSX first, which file format option should I choose?
Thanks again for the help.

Hummm. I installed OS 9.2.1 accepting all the defaults. I just booted to my 9.2.1 apple CD and ran disk repair on my hard drive to see if it would tell me. It says:
Checking "Mac OS Standard" Volume Structure
Checking Wrapper System File
Checking "Mac OS Extended" Volume Structure...
Hi...
I have a Blue & White G3, soon to be updated to a G4 processor on a Yikes! motherboard.
I have OS 9.2.2 installed on my hard drive and all seems fine. I tried to load Tiger (10.4). Tiger said it had to erase the hard drive and install a new file system, so I backed off.
I am...

I probably should keep working on the machine I have, but I do love a crisp CTR. While I have a OLED 65 inch 4K TV, I still love watching my Sony HD CRT TV. It was the last one Sony made before it moved to flat screens. I love that CRT screen.
Which Macs are you going to sell? ...
I had not installed any hardware or software other then update my system to 9.2.2. My many updates to get me to 9.2.2 went fine with no errors. My package of G4 install disks came in the mail from my friend. In it, he enclosed a apple branded 9.2.1 CD.
I booted to the CD, and using apple...
Correction: I miss spoke.... When I boot to 9.2.2, I boot to a file folder. Inside the file folder is switches between a question mark and a happy face. It will switch between the two for about 10
seconds. After that, I will see the normal happy Mac face, then the 9.2 screen, and then it...

I believe you fixed it. I did not have a check mark in "enable file sharing clients to connect over tcp/ip". I fixed that on the G3.
On the Color Classic, I clicked on Chooser, then Apple Share, and then I could see the hard drive on the B&W. I had to enter my name and...
After my upgrade to 9.2.2, I found Netscape 7.0 in my OS and tried that last night. I had about the same speed which was about 290 to 300 KB/sec. I did no thave time to go to other sites and test down load speeds. I hope to try Macintosh Garden today.
I would like to bench mark my B&W G3 before I upgrade it to a G4 Yikes and a solid state drive. I am running 9.2.2 on it now. Where can I down load the software that made the graph you posted?
Thanks
jack
I agree with you Cory..... When I replaced the SCSI HD in my Color Classic for a CF2SCSI card, my Color Classic stood up and a did a little dance. Things were so much faster. And a side benefit was that I did not have that 100 + F heater of a SCSI card in the small CC case. I also did not...
I am unsure what you mean when you say bridge machine. If I down load files on my G3 machine for the G3 machine, are you calling this my bridge machine? If I down load files on the Mystic for the Mystic, is the Mystic then called the bridge machine?
By host, you are referring to the server...
OK Thanks...
I upgraded the G3 B&W to 9.2.2. After that, my down load speeds went up to between 295 to about 300KB/sec.
I am not unhappy with this. I am just looking for typical speeds that folks with this era hardware might see.
Maybe my speeds may improve when I move to a...
Hello...
I am running a Blue & White G3 @ 400Mhz. I have 1 GB of RAM. The OS is 8.6. I am using the 5 GB mechanical hard drive that came with this computer.
I just got the B&W on line a few minutes ago. It is plugged into my ethernet network. I have about 150Mbps down load speed...
cory5412 or anyone.....
I have internet working on the B&W. I often use this web site - the owner is a member here:

I am downloading an update to 8.6 now.
I have a shared folder on my B&W desktop. I went to control panel, to...
OK. Thank you. I have some hard drive option pins that look sort of like them, but they are in a small plastic case. I thought about taking them apart to see if they fit. I tried google and did not find the link you posted. That is just what I need.
