Networking Color Classic to modern MacOS X

It looks like you can install Netscape 3.04 and IE 3.01. Install both.  See if you can surf to the link I posted using your CC. The URL I posted will work with older browsers like the the above. jack

Networking Color Classic to modern MacOS X

Will... Try going here to see if you can down load any tools (web browsers, etc) for your OS: https://obsolete.macfixer.com/vintage-software/ This the home page that my CC boots to when I launch my web browser. The keeper of the above is also on this forum. Great tools! mraroid

Networking Color Classic to modern MacOS X

The software for your network card has a test in it's software that you can do.  I believe you need to unplug your ethernet cable before you do the test.  Have you tried that?  Did the test work OK? Do you have a web browser in your CC? Like IE, or Netscape?  I do not know which versions work...

Color Classic floppy needs a rebuild- gears?

I see that someone just offered 1.44K gears.  They are in Australia and I am in the US: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-Macintosh-800K-1-44MB-Replacement-Floppy-Drive-Eject-Gear-MFD-75W-MFD-51W/223654181497?hash=item3412d3fa79:g:0hwAAOSw5ZVdc0Av That looks like the ones I need (?)  The others...

Color Classic floppy needs a rebuild- gears?

Thank you for your post.  I looked in the past and found this: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=Macintosh+floppy+drive+gears&_sacat=0 The color classic has a 1.4 floppy drive in it. I think it's original name was a "SuperDrive".  Do you...

    Which SCSI2SD for Color Classic?

I am using a older SCSI2CF in my Color Classic.  Works great.  I installed it a few years ago.  I used a SanDisk Extreme Pro 16GB and made 5 "hard drives" that were all under 4 GBs.  That was overkill.  A 4GB CF would work perfect...

    Classic Restore

Good workmanship!  Love the photos.  I buy all my caps from Mouser as well.  They have reasonable shipping charges.  And I like the fact that I can buy 1 cap, or 100.  They have been a good company for me.  mraroid

Color Classic floppy needs a rebuild- gears?

Hi... One of my color classics has a bad floppy drive.  I saw some videos on You Tube about rebuilding a floppy drive, but they were for a floppy drive in an earlier Mac, not the Color Classic. Anyone know of a video that shows the rebuilding of a floppy drive from a Color Classic?  Are folks...

Networking Color Classic to modern MacOS X

Cory5412 (and the other who have posted) knows what they are talking about.  Follow Cory's directions. Yep, install open Transport.  I suspect I did not need to upgrade to 7.6.2, but it was helpful to me. Do you have a router in your house?  Plug an ethernet cable into your network card and...

Networking Color Classic to modern MacOS X

Do you have a network card installed in your color classic? This is the card I use.  Note that it comes with the driver disk: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-Computer-Macintosh-Color-Classic-PDS-Ethernet-Card-LC-Performa-New/383378669499?hash=item5943263fbb:g:azkAAOSwpz9eJHDm Installing a...

Networking Color Classic to modern MacOS X

I think it can be done.  I am running 7.6.2 and I am doing it.  Not sure about 7.5.5  I set up networking so long ago I would have to go in and check it out again to tell you how I have done it.  Network card in the CC,  to a modern Linksys router.  Modern mac connected to the same router. mraroid

My long time dream has always been to have the ability to send and receive gmail from my Color Classic Mystic.  I have  LC 575 board installed, a SCSI2CF card for a hard drive, a full 68040, 128 MBs of RAM, 640 X 480 mod and a network card connected to my modern Lynksys router.   I am running...

    Color Classic hardware buttons

That is about the only thing that worked when I made the LC 575 board upgrade and did the 640 X 480 mod. I am sorry, I am of no help.  The light comes on, right? I wonder if both plug in some place and a plug came loose?  Others here probably know what to do next. I will be interested to...

    Color Classic hardware buttons

Are you talking about the on off key on your keyboard?  Remember, you need to have the switch on the back of the CC turned on before that will work.  Will the machine boot?  Will no keys on the keyboard not work? Or are you talking about the volume control and contrast control on the box it...

Takky power supply mod. Help please!

Thank you for your posts.  I do enjoy them.  Please keep us updated. I suspect you know about this already, but if not, here is the best on line source I know of for hacks of your CC.  Great detail and a lot of good info: https://powercc.org/ mraroid

Rear I/O panel for "Mystic" CC?

Same here.  Ebay.  I can not remember who made mine, but I liked it.  It fit perfect.  The only issue is the I/O panel was made out of pure white plastic.  But it never shows unless you turn the machine around.  I was always going to paint mine after a retrobright, but the retrobright has yet to...

Craving the companionship of a cool Color Classic

Occasional, I have seen dead CC on ebay for $150 to $200.  Sometimes the cases look to be in great shape - almost no yellowing at all.  A dead CC will be a world of parts for you.  If you have not found this site already, I suggest you visit.  It has the most CC information under one hood that...

Craving the companionship of a cool Color Classic

And if you put a 575 board in the the Color Classic, swap out the processor for a "full" 68040 and then make the mode to the board to give you 640 X 480 , you will have one sweet machine.  mraroid
