SE/30: Rubber of CRT HV connector disintegrates - searching replacement

You see it more often on bigger color crts as the tiny black and white screens in the macs (or CBM PETS or the Vectrex) only have rather tiny amounts of anode voltage. More in the range of 5KV then the 25KV or even more on 29inch Color tubes. IF it really bothers you, then you can discharge the...

    SE/30 - Bad ASC?

Which track you think was broken that, when fixing it prevents the system to boot? can you mark it in the pic? Also clean your board, theres tons of electrolyte left to corrode it further. Putting it in a plastic container and fubmerging it in isopropanol can really help. I also used a spare...

SE/30: Rubber of CRT HV connector disintegrates - searching replacement

No worries! Its NOT the rubber desolving but actually its by design! What you see as "ugly, sticky mess" is dielectric grease used to seal the HV connector and its surroundings to moisture, so the HV cannot arc outside in high humidity environments.

SE/30 Sony CR-44 PSU fuse type?

Get both, try a fast, see if it survives the inrush current when the system is switched on. The ASTEC schematics show a AGC-3 fuse, so they use a 3A fast acting one. The big storage cap that would bring the most inrush capacity on the Sony is behind a thermistor that limits the current until...

    BlueSCSI Issues - Bus Error

I had strange issues with the BlueSCSI on my newly restored SE/30 as well. Booted with a premade Image and seemed to work, but had errors now and then, Bus Errors and other crashing. Didn't really thought much as I currently have a crude mix of RAM in it, all 1Meg Modules, Bank A 9chip parity...

Simple mounting solution for SE/30 speaker

Its 3,50 mm in Thickness, so its sits snug, but not overly tight using the original rubber pad between the speaker and the front. Foam would be rather stiff to be ableto bridge the gap between the mac chassis touching it on the rear and the point where it sits on the frame of the speaker.

Simple mounting solution for SE/30 speaker

Yea the metal frame. Bad wording i guess from my side :) I change it!

Simple mounting solution for SE/30 speaker

I had to remove the speaker from the faceplate of my SE/30 and was looking for a simple, non-permanent, adhesive-free way to reattach the speaker. I designed a super simple washer that sits firmly on the speaker cone and allows the metal chassis to also hold the speaker in place. If you want...
