    9600 Graphics card

Subject says it all. I have a 9600 with a stock card that seems to be going bad (the screen is displaying really odd ghosting pattern). What PCI cards can I get that have drivers (somewhere on the internet) for MacOS 8-9? I've been out of the PCI graphics card world for so long I am really...

    Quadra 800 and PM 8500

I got a chance to get these two gems for a good price plus an Apple Performa display (meh....) and some Apple Extended II Keyboards. Not bad. Ok, here's the bad news: They're both REALLY filthy, the Quadra's case was held together by duct tape and it looked like it had MELTED! The 8500 powered...

    The PCI box for 3400?

Magma answered my questions...nifty useful tools!

    The PCI box for 3400?

So those PCI-PCI expansion boxes are common? Was the 3400 the only Powerbook that was capable of such an expansion option? This is friggin' awesome!

    The PCI box for 3400?

Didn't know where to file this under but I was thinking about the PB 3400c... Back in it's day it was an industrial beast (touted the "fastest" laptop on the planet with a big pricetag to boot). I vaguely recall that there was a PCMCIA module that was hooked up to a box where you can plug in...

    Tons of Macs

The legends tell of a city of Platinum where Six-colored Apple Trees thrive and where Cowdogs roam free in mutual harmony with humans. They tell that there are enough of each mac ever made for those who find it...I long to find that city... Luck you had! Awesome finds istar!

    Power Tower Computing

Yea...unless the guy'll cut me some slack on the price I'm leaning against it

    Nifty PB and Desktops

I found on eBay awhile back a "non functioning" 500 MHz Pismo for $60 shipped. Used my standard Pismo plug and voila, it booted up! Those 500MHz's are hard to find, came with factory HD and RAM, DVD ROM drive, etc. and appeared to have belonged to a teacher. Perfect pristine case and all! Today...

    Power Tower Computing

I have the opportunity to buy two Power Tower Pros...should I pay alot (~$100)? I mean they're cool and all but that price is ridic...what are they worth really? They're not StarMax or a Radius system but still they are a part of mac history.... your thoughts please!

    OpenStep 4.x Disk Images

Hey Folks: I don't know if this is old news or not but I thought it'd be nifty for all the OpenStep fans. Apple posted at least the boot and install floppy images with instructions on how to make real floppies (using Unix instructions to write the img files to floppy drive) from them. It's not...

    Pismo 'Refurbishing'

Bunsen was right! I unplugged my batteries (both were put in the machine) and plugged the PRAM battery back, left it overnight, and the thing powers up without the battery being unplugged. Sweet! In the meantime I'll try and find a replacement PRAM battery. Thanks for the help folks!

    Pismo 'Refurbishing'

Holy Smokes it works! My gosh, I got it for a steal (literally...well not that I performed anything illegal) cuz it was not powering up. My goodness, thanks readers! Now it needs a fresh install of the OS and it's good as new and still just as usable.

    Pismo 'Refurbishing'

Would a bad internal battery affect it from starting up? Also I plugged the battery in and it doesn't seem to be charging. I'm tempted to think it's a Power unit issue, just wondering how I can "diagnose" that without having to buy one off of eBay. Any thoughts?

    Pismo 'Refurbishing'

Folks on these forums are so helpful thought I'd get more help... I found a Pismo 500 (awesome, always wanted one) and I didn't have the Yo-yo adapter so I used my 1400c's power adapter. It won't power up. This may be a dumb question but could it be that Yoyo's are backwards compatible, but...

    Playing back MKVs and WMVs

Drats drats drats!! I knew it! Why did Apple stick with the G4 and make it seem like it was the best/fastest machine only to turn on us with the Intel transition? I bought the PBG4 thinking it'll be a lasting testament to the versatility of macs, only to be disappointed by it's inability...

    Playing back MKVs and WMVs

I've been trying to watch my anime (yea yea) and over the ensuing months these dad gum files are of such high quality that they're making my mac hiccup. Especially the wmv's, although MKVs are just as notorious. I try using Flip4Mac but it's barely playable even with it. I have a 1.33 GHz PB G4...

    1400c!

Hope you get the refund. Powerbookguy has replacement screens as low as $30 for 1400. Dunno about quality but it's been around awhile (the company) and is practically a PB "industry standard" in some circles. Hope all goes well! I always hate shoddy packing, just because there's tons of...

    Replacing Powerbook HDs

Hi Guys: I have a Pismo and a Powerbook 1400c that I'd like to get replacement (bigger) hard drives for. What should I look for? I don't want to just get a generic IDE hard drive and I don't think I can anyways. BTW, for the 1400, I understand that if I use IDE, I can't use target disk mode...

    Upgrading my Beige G3

So in a sense, if I want to overclock, maybe it would be better to stick with a Rev A board? Then I can just buy a pretty decked out G3 (well, nothing very fast) and stick with this or are the later G3 processors (B&W pulls say) only compatible with later Rev Boards?

    Upgrading my Beige G3

I'd like to get a faster G3 before getting a G4. The only reason to run G4 would be OSX but I have another machine with that. I'd just like to trick it out enough to get the Wings AV card, maybe a TV Tuner card, make it my multimedia blast from the past (use older software, etc). Ha, I also have...
