    IIci issues

My offer still stands for the IIci board, however it has damage to the 68030 chip that although it does not affect functionality it is rather ugly. I nearly sheared off an address pin while cleaning corrosion off the chip. (Yes Bunsen I know I know, it was an accident! I am very careful. :)...

    Unknown slot in some Macs?

I noticed that in some Macs, there is a long slot behind the last NUBUS slot. It is visible in a IIx (but not a II) a IIvx, and the IIci. Now I know that in a IIci, it should be the slot for the cache card, which checks out, given that I have seen these installed in IIci's. However, evidently...

IIsi with 17" Studio Display Question

This is not necessarily true....ADC to DVI adaptors exist, and DVI to VGA adaptors exist, and I have gotten VGA LCD panels running fine on my IIsi with RBV video, including my old Dell 24" 2407WFP. And yes thats a crap lode of adaptors, but it works. You need the following to make this happen...

    Mac II Tech questions

Yes, but I still wonder why it happened, like why exactly. Now if I furiously mash the debugger switch, I no longer end up in code where the Interrupt level is 6, so I am guessing it was the fact that I was entering the debugger code in a noninterruptable routine. (Non interrupt safe?) lol.

    Mac II Tech questions

I figured this out. Nubus cards have user (well, programmer) installable Interrupt exception handlers and "follow up" code that you can attach to a slot or sRsrc structure. Mundane activities that are related to the Nubus cards themselves can "steal" interrupts. Most Nubus activities are only...

    IIci issues

I have a IIci logic board I don't use if you're interested. I am in Boston, MA. I'd ship it for $20 total.

    total_macs += 16;

I don't suppose you would consider selling one of the IIsi's? My beloved IIsi is having issues with disk access because the drive controller chip legs are corroded. I have had a lot of trouble finding clean, rust/grime free working replacement boards for it. PM me if you're interested. :)

Help! Looking for a LCD monitor that is MACIIci compatible

I am fairly certain that the RBV chip is hard coded to use a fixed amount of ram. The Apple Developer Docs for the IIsi/IIci have this information in them, in the Video timing or Architecture section, iirc.

    Liberation of a new IIci

Yeah, actually, with the NuBus adaptor card, a IIsi has all the same parts as a IIci, minus the cache card, and the fact that the SCC/SCSI is on one chip not two. I wonder if the IIsi Rom contains the logic for a cache card. Since the cache controller is attached directly to the 68030 bus thru...

    Liberation of a new IIci

I like the IIci, it seems to be a faster IIsi! I would like to bring my IIsi up to speed though, with a 25 Mhz cpu clock, and maybe see if I can hack a IIci cache card in there.

    Liberation of a new IIci

Actually, to hijack my own thread for a bit, does anyone know whether, on the RBV/MDU based Macs like the IIsi and IIci, if I add a NUBUS video card, can I still use the RBV built in video? Will I have dual monitor support then?

    Liberation of a new IIci

I liberated a IIci this weekend, with 32k cache card and 32 MB ram, 80MB HDD. The machine was almost brand new. It was owned by some rich dude who never used it, it had a few word processing docs on it and that's it. It's been in a box unused since 1993. It came with a set of system 7.5...

    brand new IIsi motherboard

So I found an interesting score, a replacement motherboard for my beloved IIsi. My current motherboard is a recent one (Late 1992 date codes on the chips) but the SCSI/SCC controller chip has a LOT of green oxidation and corrosion on the pins. Anywayyy, so I bought a board of this guy and lo...

    New user, old Mac fan.

So uhhh. I wanna try that clock chip mod now. :) After doing some careful research, It looks like the IIsi is literally a downclocked IIci with some extra parity chips, cache, and a Nubus controller built in. So I am thinking of just dropping a ZIF 4 pin into the old quartz crystal space...

    What's a Quadra 700 good for?

I remember watching Jurassic Park back in like 1992 and it had a bunch of these, sitting on a desk, looking WICKED badass. I may have actually been visibly excited by them. :) I bugged my parents for like a year to get one, and they woudln't because of the price. Oh well. I finally used...

    Blue and White G3!!

Well, I ended up selling this for $45. I used that to buy me another Quadra 840AV. I missed my last one but this one is hopefully in a little better shape when it arrives. What I'd really like to do is pimp my IIsi a little. Has anyone tried changing the clock on this to 25 Mhz (It's just a...

Help! Looking for a LCD monitor that is MACIIci compatible

I have been using my IIsi with a Dell 2407WFP-HC 24" LCD panel for years. All I have is a special adaptor for the IIsi to convert it to "regular" Apple DB15 connector then I have a DB15 to VGA connector that has DIP switches on it to configure it for different timings and outputs. Works...
