Hi, I have a PowerMac G3 DT wich has a G4 upgrade running at 333Mhz installed. By changing jumper setting, I can get the cpu speed up to around 600Mhz.
Cpu utility software logs 22C or 71F temp at 333Mhz, wich I doubt is correct, with the stock G3 heatsink without fans.
Is the PPC 7400 (1st...
Tough call.
In 1986 I had a Sinclair Spectrum. My uncle did fairly well im business and bought a Mac Plus with the huge 20mb external hd. To get to play with the Macs graphic interface was just awsome. I would probably have chosen the Mac Plus. Atleast before 1987, when the Amiga arrived.
Reporting that my newly aquired OriNOCO Gold Pcmcia wifi card works flawlessly in the PB190cs. :)
Running 7.5.2 with Open Transport 1.1.2 and the OriNOCO 6.0 drivers. 128-bit wep encryption on the router.
I hear a faint "plug-and-play", echoing back from 1995.. :approve:
Well, for the money it went for, I would have been interested. Soundcards or not, a IIfx with maxed out Ram in good condition is very difficult to find. Overseas shipping + import taxes would have driven the price up to $500+ though.
Continuing the offtopic..
Some interesting thoughts regarding the IIfx.
Since it has 2x 6502 cpus running at 10mHz managing the io devices, and apple never implemented the use of them'in the OS, I have
always wondered; can they be used in other ways using clever programming?
The original...
No, its not my auction.
But I have stockpiled popcorn and dr Pepper to follow what could turn into "vintage-mac bidding-war-of-the-year".
Who needs TV...
Yep. Remember that one. My friend had a PB150, while I had a Performa 600. We ran the same 7.1 Macos, with exception for different system enablers. PB 150s screen probably earned "worst viewing experience ever created by man", with its 16 greys passive FSTN. Horrible. The missing ADB port adds...
From what I understand, the 190cs board might be able to drive the 5300c active screen in 256 color mode, since its a 640x480. The svga 800x600 5300ce screen needs more vram.
I see. Bummer.
Another question then, does someone know if the graphichs s out addon card with ethernet (Focus MV16en)
has the standard rj45 out, or some other strange connecttor?
Hi,a ll..
I read somewhere a long time ago, that the 68LC040 sits in a socket on the logic board, and might be possible to swap to a full 68RC040 with fpu and all.
Has anyone tried this, or is that claim just rubbish anyway?'
