    Thinking about video editing

Yep, it should work on a machine with less than a g4/500. Final Cut Pro 3 System Requirements Macintosh computer with a 300-MHz or faster PowerPC G3 or G4 processor and built-in FireWire. 500-MHz or faster single or 450-MHz dual processor Power Mac G4 or PowerBook G4 required for G4 realtime...

    Thinking about video editing

Final cut 2 needs a g3 300 or thereabout, FC3 atleast a g4 500, if I remember correctly. Unfortunately premiere pro never made it to mac until the cs3 bundle = intel mac. Otherwise a great program. The regular Premiere classic might be an option, think macintosh garden has up to version 5.0.

PowerBook 190cs: How Hard To Get A Battery?

The screen is not great by any standards, 8-bit color passive. Dont expect all keys on the keyboard to be working either. Ram expansion is a quite rare card that slots in under the keyboard. The good parts is that it works well with some of the wifi pc-cards, and has a ide HD. Thought of...

PowerBook 190cs: How Hard To Get A Battery?

Remember rebuilding one of those a couple of years back. Its basically lots of AA size batteries with soldertags connected in series inside, (12 1,2v I think) Tricky part is to open the plastic without ruining it. Maybe cutting with a dremel would be the best option? (I didnt ????) There is...

Q950, SuperMac Thunder II GX 1600 - Refresh Rates

Sorry, misread your post ???? Well, my guess is that you need a monitor that supports 75hz at 1600x1200. Thats what the specs on the Apple crts from that time says.

Q950, SuperMac Thunder II GX 1600 - Refresh Rates

Dont know if you have seen this: http://www.vintagemacworld.com/radius/thuniv.html There is a setup procedure at boot that might help. I have used older Sony sdm lcds with good results. They usually have a variable analog input between about 48-85Hz.

    Fastest NUBUS-Graphics Card?

I think its a wise choice. After maxing out my IIfx, (Radius Thunder, scsi jackhammer, audiomedia soundcard and lots of ram) the main satisfaction turned out to be the sourcing of the components, assembling of the system and the research to make everything work. Performance.. Well, it went from...

    Fastest NUBUS-Graphics Card?

ArmorAlley: Have the prices went up that much? Crazy.. I bought two of those cards (1360 not 1600) for 40$ each 3 or 4 years ago.

    Fastest NUBUS-Graphics Card?

I suppose its the Radius Thunder IV GX. I had one in a IIfx, made a big difference compared to the Apple nubus card. If its faster than the Q700 graphics, I dont know. But it works with ppc, so that indicates it should be decent.

Ever seen this Apple monitor before?

.. actually these days LG is officially short for Life's Good. But your correct that Lucky and Goldstar was two brandings, one for Kitchen appliances and the other consumer electronics. Lucky Goldstar is a horrible name. Probably thats why they changed it.

Is there a 68K mac With PDS and NUBUS slots??

Well, a IIfx has both, but the PDS in a IIfx is not compatible with ordinary PDS cards. To my knowledge there were only 2 or 3 different accelerator cards made for the IIfx PDS, and to be honest I have not seen one for sale in a very long time.

    Some questions about Mac IIFX

Hi, when I got my IIfx I found out that the nubus videocard (it doesnt have built in graphics) didnt work well with newer lcd monitors. In some cases the odd resolutions (1152x882, 1152x870, 832x624 or even worse 704x512) didnt scale well, in other cases the refresh rate at certain resolutions...

    AppleDesign speaker refoam

Yes, the surround is the same as foam. Some drivers have textileor rubber surround rings, but these seems to be foam. The magnet keep the voicecoil in the same position wich in is winded and glued to the end of the cone. Sometimes, depending how they were stored, the voicecoil can corrode and...

    AppleDesign speaker refoam

Refoaming can work great! If the drivers start to give up, there are plenty of high quality wideband drivers in similar sizes though, german manufacturer Visaton is one of many.

Think Pascal to make real working program with menu

Google "Inside Macintosh pdf". Vol 1 - 3 are easy to find and covers the early stuff and how to initialize and make calls to the different managers; windows, dialogs, menus etc.

Think Pascal to make real working program with menu

If you really are determined at learning pascal and macintosh toolbox, I suggest you try amazon and search for Paul Pritchard and his book "An introduction to Programming using Macintosh Pascal". Its a good start. Written in 1988 its usually very cheap in the used bookstores. Another option...

    50 G4 Minis (not mine)

Well, Xgrid can be used on OS X 10.4 - 10.7, so its not exactly ancient technology; or at least its several decades newer than most other topics discussed here :) Interesting read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xgrid Edit: It looks to me that the performance of the controlling computer has to...
