Considering that there is little support for that method of interaction elsewhere in the operating system, I would seriously doubt that there is any way to use the Apple Menu with the keyboard only.
Bernouilli drives! That's a nice find! They might be obsolete, but if you're after obscurity then that's certainly the way to go! Or you could get the more common and (apparently) reliable SyQuest drives instead.
Yes, screenreaders are always awkward with GUIs, but they are much easier to use when the GUI can be navigated with the keyboard alone because mice are difficult for blind people to use. But yes, CLIs are deffinately better for blind people, although there is a Linux distribution with a GUI...
It seems to run fine on my Mac and I've figured out most of what the numeric keypad does, but due to the lack of that Macintosh's provision for extensive keyboard navigation (some functions are only available by using the mouse) the interface is rather difficult to navigate with a screenreader...
I'd say a pizzabox would definitely be the smallest desktop form factor (excluding the monitor), but if you want a built-in monitor for convenience then you should take a compact Mac (128k, 512k, Plus, SE, etc.). Color Classics are larger than the other compacts but your requirement for colour...
Just be aware though that the installer will usually try to automatically choose the appropriate software for your particular Mac, so you will probably need to change the default selections if you're installing for a different Mac than the one running the installer.
I just managed to download that screenreader a moment ago, however I can't find a user manual anywhere (although I've figured out that the numeric keypad does something, but I have absolutely no idea what). Also from running it on an emulator the RAM requires seem to be quite high and I have no...
It seems that the only screenreader for that Classic Macintosh operating system is OutSpoken by Berkeley Systems. Now I just need to figure out where to get it from...
I don't mean that they are paying for someone else to host the files; what I'm saying is that the files are taking up storage space that could be used for something else. So take the following as an example:
Current size of Apple's website (including obsolete software) = a.
Size of obsolete...
As far as I know 32-bit QuickDraw replaces the ROM routines so it doesn't matter what's in the machine's ROM as to whether or not you should use 32-bit QuickDraw. But I'm still not sure that it's worth installing 32-bit QuickDraw on a Mac Plus because the Mac Plus is probably not going to be...
The other problem is that running the installer on a different computer could cause the wrong drivers to be installed, so ultimately it might not work in the correct computer.
Have you checked that the CD-ROM contains CD-ROM drivers compatible with the IIci? Otherwise you will need to boot the...
What you are describing is called accelerated virtualisation, except that your version is unco-operative. If you make it co-operative then you will have proper virtualisation.
Also I don't see why, if uClinux can run the Macintosh Plus hardware, why we can't just boot it from a floppy or hard...
Yes they do have to pay for the storage. They would be using storage for files that almost nobody uses anymore whereas they could otherwise use that storage for something that a lot of people are actually using.-
They made MPW freely available on the basis that it was obsolete software, so I see...
Provided that you haven't left files any open or any programs running (i.e. you're in the Finder) then there's no problem with doing that. And remember to eject the floppy before turning it off because it won't eject automatically.
Actually they did. It costs them money to host files that get accessed not more than I would guess about once a month at most.
They might have deleted it last August; things can stay in server caches for surprising amounts of time even after they've been officially deleted (sometimes they can...
One used to be able to get to those files by typing in the directory where they were stored on the server because then the server would return a directory listing but now it seems to redirect the user to a "file not found" page.
For future referance, the simplest trick is to just keep ejecting and re-inserting the disk. Sometimes only a very small change in the alignment of the disk in the drive is enough to make it readable or unreadable. You could also make a point of putting the disk in at slightly different angles...
