Well my OS 9 software update will ask me all few month to install Carbon Lib and other things, even though they are more then up to date. I think it is just not really good in figuring what is installed.

That is the Open Firmware boot selector.. It shows you the bootable volumes. Clicking the circular arrow refreshes the menu choices indeed, f.e. because you put a CD in the drive or whatever. I guess the other button boots the selected volume.

It is an Matshita DVD ROM drive... It reads CD's with any problem, so I think dirt shouldn't be a problem. :-x
